Latest update killed motion sensor opening

killmen0w on

Just when I have trained all my dogs on how to open the door by standing there, they update the app and it stops working completely. I emailed them but no one has responded. 12/24.

Better every day

AZ Dog Mom15 on

I see a lot of older reviews on here. We have had our Wayzn with pet tags for about 6 weeks. Our dog has Cushing’s disease, so he HAS to go out many, many times, day and night. All of the people in my house are gone all day and honestly, getting up to let him out several times a night makes it hard to get a good night’s sleep. We thought this was the perfect solution. It is not the perfect solution. HOWEVER, this very small, very new company is willing to help. We had many issues—the app. The last update has it working consistently and I’m so happy about that. I also had two Zoom calls with the developer. He was immensely helpful. We did several things to help the door and pet tags function so that our pup can get out on his own. I know that Wayzn continues to work on making it better every day. If you have one and haven’t discussed the issues you are having with someone from Wayzn, I encourage you to reach out. Current positives: * the door opens about 90% of the time using the pet tags * the door opens 99% of the time on the motion setting * opens and closes smoothly 100% Current negatives and our work arounds: * our patio door is in the living room and if our dog is laying within an unobstructed 10 feet of the door, it will open randomly on the pet tag setting; our work-around is to change the setting to motion as our dog only lays in the living room when we are in there too. * The sensor would not pick up the pet tag when it was on the wall; our work-around is to install the sensor on the glass door * The pet tag would not consistently open the door; our work-around is to have our dog wear both of the pet tags Since we have done these things, our dog has been able to get out and in the house successfully every time while we were away at work. (We have a camera, so we can see when he goes out and comes back in.) During the night, it has worked well but since we are home, he still wakes us up before going out. #olddogoldhabits Hope this helps someone!

Would benefit from shortcut support

The app functions as intended, but given how simple the interface is, it would really benefit from the ability to add an iPhone shortcut to open the app, select my wayzn, and press the “open then close” button so I can use Siri to open the door

Garbage

Way overpriced trash. RRely works. Dog tags don't work at all. Save your money. It should be criminal to even sell it.

Needs matter support ASAP

cmcmahon10 on

This has had support for Alexa since the beginning matter has been been around for over a year now and they still have not given support for it to work with Siri would love it to be automated so that way when I drive up my driveway, I’m not trying to go through the app on my phone while I’m driving and it automatically opens the door for me because it knows I’m coming home in a automation. Or be able to just use my voice and say open the sliding glass door and it does it.

Probably one of the worst apps I’ve used in a long time

Frank Corbett on

I was thrilled by the concept of Wayzn - pet door with no permanent damage or expensive installs! However, this fell short due to the app. The “checking connection” error is one of the worst user experiences I’ve had in a long time, especially with a product this expensive. No matter how many times I tried each and every one of the troubleshooting steps, I was not able to ever get the device connected to my wifi. You spend ~$700 on a product and can’t even get the thing to simply connect to your network! I would have returned it but don’t want to swallow losing half of the cost so I’m holding out for a future update. But wow was this disappointing. The alleged 3 minute install quickly turned into 4 hours without any result other than frustration and disappointment.

Love the device/Alexa stopped working

laeckler on

The device itself has been very helpful as I work 3 jobs at varying times of the day and being able to let my dog out anytime is a lifesaver. A downside for me, though not a big one, is the fact that my slider is in a very busy location to start with and my dog likes to sit in front of the slider without going outside, so the motion detection was SO incredibly sensitive that I had to turn it off completely and rely solely on opening/closing it “manually” (aka with Alexa or the app). With it on, it would open for every little thing—throwing something away, putting something on the dining table, and yes my dog, which is great when she actually wants to go outside, but when she doesn’t, she’ll stick her nose just past the door and with the safety feature enabled, my slider would stay open for sometimes extended periods of time until I noticed and closed it with Alexa/in the app. I took off a star, not because my dog is a pain in the butt and the device works as advertised, but because after the most recent update, the Alexa integration has completely stopped working. My Alexa device hears my voice and recognizes the commands, it even chirps in confirmation, but the Wayzn device doesn’t respond and I’m left with having to go into the app and close it there. The Alexa integration was a big draw for me, so hopefully they get it fixed. Until then I can still open/close my slider with the app.

App works great

App works exactly as expected. The opening device has really worked well and given us flexibility in our lives with our beloved dogs. Highly recommend this invention and app.

Needs more- early adopter

CarMan1815 on

I’ve had this for over a year I believe, was one of the first to get it when it came out. I thought it would be amazing and solve so many headaches for me. Troublesome setup as my door I guess is slightly heavier than what it likes. Ended up not using it, just decided today to give it another try .Great idea, needs more power torque to open slightly heavier doors. Would be great if it could open a little bit faster.

Hoping for more products!
