WeePhone SIP Reviews

Works well with my Sip account but no ios4 support

PaulsQuiz.com on

United Kingdom

This app works perfectly for me when I have it open the whole time but ios4 is not supported at time of writing. As soon as ios4 is supported And I can use the app without having to have it active all the time, then I shall up the rating to five stars. Still very good though. I'm yet to find another app able to accept my sip account settings from 1&1.

DO NOT BUY

I bought this program to make calls over internet but it does not work. it takes ages to login sometime it never does. on 3g it never logs you in. even when you are logged in, you dial a number it starts ringing in your ear but actually No ring in the other and I have tested this a lot of times. it says it works 3g but it does not at all. very slow and clumsy program. please DO NOT WASTE £3. I waited 6 months for the program to be updated and it has been updated BUT STILL DOES NOT WORK.

Works Well

I have it registered with my Sipgate account and it works perfectly. It takes seconds to set up and is easy to make calls from. I just called the USA from the UK and it was perfect. Well worth 2.99 as now I don't have to but a cordless sip phone for the house.

Basic features work, clunky interface, keypad tones broken

xdh on

This is an easy to configure basic SIP phone. It is a little slow to answer calls at times. I am unable to use it with conference calls / internet banking or similar as the keypad tones do not work.

Works as it says on the box

I have been using this software now for 3 months, works well. I run my own asterisk server for my family. It works with my Bluetooth headset and a VPN back to my own server. Only downside is if a receive a GSM call during the voip call i lose the voip call, also can't receive voip calls unless the app is running, these are limitations with iPhone. Otherwise does what it says and works well.

Can't hear dialling and Bluetooth headset doesn't work

ck- on

Mind you if the Bluetooth headset did work, sound quality would suffer because hardware limitations of iPhone mean that Bluetooth and WiFi don't play nicely together. I used Sipgate in the uk and couldn't hear any ring tone - not sure whose fault that is, but not had problems with Sipgate previously. Other than that, sound quality good and no discernible delay. I agree with some of the other reviewers about the interface requiring an update.

Generally quite a good app.

Pretty good, easy to use, and SIP (which is why I use it) world perfectly well with SIP providers such as VoIPtalk. I also run my own asterisk server, and can connect to it over a VPN - despite some reviews I was able to get this to work. My only issue really is that the user interface could be nicer - it's not quite as sleek as other iPhone apps. Obviously SIP only works on Wi-Fi, but that's a limitation imposed by Apple.

Does what it says on the tin

AJBEssex on

Doesnt look the best but does exactly what it says and what I wanted it to do. Am using EntaCall Voip and needed something quick after my voip phone failed. The couple of calls I have made with it so far have been clear and hassle free

Almost there

Burnsy1980 on

United Kingdom

As one of the few sip clients available I thought I would give it a go. Almost there, works on the LAN but won't work via VPN. My firewall logs are telling me this app is reporting the internal ip address rather than the VPN assigned address. Gutted, this is the exact reason I wanted it. Also still a little ugly. Would be better if they dropped the sip registration screen, and made the keypad look more like the official iPhone one. Looking forward to the next version.

Does what it says

Jrmg on

United Kingdom

It's not the prettiest of apps, but it does what it says, and works reliably. Unlike the prettier Fring, it supports DTMF tones, so you can use it to interact with phone menus (like banking and voicemail menus). I used it with my SIP account from VOIPCheap.co.uk, and sound quality was perfectly acceptable, with little discernible lag. Certainly worth the price.
