Whitstable Oyster Company Reviews

Why, why, why?

Told by staff member at the bar that you HAD to download the app to order food. Not easy to find what you wanted, 25p online fee added to basket before even selecting any items, 10% service charge added (and not able to change it if you wanted to) and that’s before any service had even been given. In fact, the waiting staff didn’t even take the order, I had to place it online. The “service” consisted of walking 2 plates and 2 drinks about 10 yards from the bar. Get rid of the app, include service in the prices if you’re going to impose a set fee. This left a sour taste for what was decent food. Wish we’d found the various food outlets by the quay first.

We loved the oysters 10/10. The main meal was very tantalising and delicious. We enjoyed our stay.

Clunky, poor search function and a waste of time

Massive waste of time over simply asking someone for some food. Possibly a cost cutting strategy gone wrong. You should not be forced to download an app to order food

Just a website

Actually it’s worse as it doesn’t then pull in autocomplete information from safari. Poor.

Did a child write this?

So buggy and unresponsive. Needs a complete rewrite. Why does ordering a drink require my name, email address and phone number? No autocomplete on fields either and to add insult to injury you charge and App fee and a service charge. Unbelievable!

doesn’t work

the_real_jeffrey_bezos on

the app crashed 6 times over the period of 3 minutes, gave up and asked for a normal order. as said by others, the wifi here is awful near the sea so the entire idea of having an app is silly.

Not great with patchy mobile coverage

It would be useful if the restaurant had WiFi available, this app would run pretty well, but over mobile it’s terrible.
