Transform your phone or tablet into a Wi-Fi spectrum analyzer (2.4 & 5 GHz) with the WiPry 2500x. This ultra-portable tool is perfect for IT professionals and wireless network technicians.
On the hardware side, the WiPry 2500x is slightly larger than previous versions but still small enough to compare to a quarter. Additional space was added to allow for external charging (4 AAA alkaline batteries). This provides full functionality for newer iOS devices including SSID’s. Highlights include:
- 2.4 GHz & 5 GHz Spectrum Analyzer
- Scan & Troubleshoot WiFi
- SSID's / RSSI
- Cross-platform support (works with any device)
On the software side, significant improvements have been made including:
- Play / Record (helps in capturing intermittent environmental issues)
- Enhanced Reporting Function (birth certificates track Wi-Fi health)
- SNR / SINR automatic calculation (speeds up site evaluation)
- Combined view for the real view and waterfall that gives you a history of the transmissions
One of the benefits of these software improvements is that there is no software subscription charge. Software is free of charge and available through the user's preferred platform.
Although demo mode is available for free with this download, an accessory must be purchased to fully enable the product. Don’t have the accessory? You can still take the app for a test drive. There are several demo wave forms (WiFi, DECT, and DSSS) that simulate signals. Check it out today!

Works well. But you need the antenna!
Read the negative reviews and don’t understand the need for them. It won’t work without the required antenna. If you’re downloading the app to perform “wireless surveying” on an iPhone/iPad and you were expecting it to work via the built in wireless receiver, you’re probably in the wrong job. The app works perfectly fine with the WiPry-Pro adapter, but only does 2.4Ghz. The demo of the app suggests it supports other adapters, but I haven’t tested any others. Really useful for identifying consistently noisy channels.
Doesn’t do anything!
This app is absolutely useless because it doesn’t do anything at all apart from show a demo of what someone’s WiFi environment looks like. This is not helpful to optimise my WiFi at all! Don’t waste your time and storage!
Why a demo?
If I want an app, I want to use not see a picture of a demo.

Demo only. Not sure why it can't use the ipad's own antenna, like other similar apps.

Wispy software and hardware
After purchasing the hardware on the apple website for £150 as i need it urgently for a job survey as my usual product wi-spy was being used else where , i found this product perfect and worth ever penny i paid for it as my wi-spy cost the company near on £2000. Hands down the wi-spy is more superior to this product but this item done the job i needed ... Please be aware you have to purchase the hardware for this app to work other wise its just a demo visual app. User friendly , extremely easy to set up , plug and play :)

Doesn't work
If you look carefully, the background says it is just a demo. It doesn't do anything. But there there seems no way to make it do anything. Very unintuitive/unhelpful UI. Giving up.
