You can practice a lot of vocabulary using these simple games.

Amazing, engaging, and fun!

I’ve been looking for an app like this for SO LONG. I’m intermediate level (generously Chinese HSK 4) and spent months studying Chinese in China, but now that I’ve returned to the US I’ve had so much trouble finding ways to keep it up. Most apps start out just too basic so I give up on them but I’m still learning and need to keep refreshing my vocab and grammar knowledge to an extent that regular news is still too hard. This app has games, exercises, fun stories, tournaments, it’s really the whole package. And it connects with Pleco so you can keep track of words. It’s so interactive I’m surprised it took me this long to find it. Thanks for making such a great app!!

Great text games with audio that are both fun:challenging and good tools for learning Chinese!

Worth it!

Forget all the other apps that are just the same version of each other - WordSwing is super unique, challenging, and holds your interest. I have died in the burning building game 20 times by now probably, and going through it again helps reinforce my reading and listening. There’s so much more content that I have not even gotten to yet, and new features are constantly being added. Like all apps, this one alone is not enough to really learn, but it’s a great change of pace and a fun way to really use Chinese. Highly recommend !

Good concept, somewhat slow and clunky.

Content and material decent with good intent. Anki integration great. Downsides include slow / laggy responses to inputs and a very non-intuitive UI for the word adventure games.

Fun way to do extensive reading!

This app is perfect for my current reading level. I love that it’s a game that I have to understand the characters to progress. It’s just the right amount of difficulty to be fun and challenging. One complaint I have about the UI: the area where you tap the “brain” to change a word color from red/orange/green is too close to the left hamburger menu. So I often open the menu by accident while trying to change level.

Traditional version needs some tweak

It would be nice if the traditional character version includes zhuyin option. A great game otherwise. I keep thinking how children would enjoy the game, if you change some of the vocab to be more appropriate for them. It's your basic "choose your adventure" story they love.

Doesn’t work

Literally a blank screen with a loading circle. Never loads.

An amazing tool! One of my 5 daily go-to’s apps.

WordSwing is completely addictive, smart, nimble, demanding and relentless. Exactly what one needs to keep progressing in Mandarin Chinese. So, why 4 stars and not five? The characters are too small!!! Help! I just got new glasses, and the reading on my iPhone 7+ is still difficult, making me trip because the Pinyin choices are so tiny.... I still love it. Wait till you launch the web app on your computer: the dialogues are hard enough to push you to keep going. Just wonderful to use a slower speech pattern when the going is a bit tough, then go back to the original recording. Chapeau to the developers, their work is an absolute gem! Now, about the size of this pesky characters. . . Please, any way to make them a bit bigger? Thank you!
