Yabla features loop and pitch-corrected slow down options, for users to learn the material at their own pace. Users may take time to review phrases or words of difficulty, as well as go over them multiple times during a session.
Click on difficult words to look them up in our multisource dictionary and add them for later review. Practice them in the flashcard exercise, available via our web app. Flashcard review helps to memorize new vocabulary.

Yabla Video Player in a Mobile App

If you don’t know what Yabla is, it’s a subscription service for interactive language learning videos. I was already paying for this service, so for me this app was what I was looking for for a long time: their interactive video player brought to mobile devices. For my iPad Mini Retina, this app is very good. I’m giving it four stars because I feel they can develop this more. Yes, they brought their excellent video player to a mobile app, but I’d like to see them add more features, and add updates that can better take advantage of being on an iPad (perhaps be able to toggle parts of the interface, or to have the dictionary reference panel only appear when the user looks up a word and allowing the video size to increase slightly when the dictionary isn’t being used, etc.). A very good app...

Good!

So far, so good with this app. I prefer the website, but I’m very happy with the functionality.

Good idea for an app, but lacking in features and updates

I'd be amazed if "Andosaurus" isn't a paid Yabla shill who wrote the review before mine. Moving on, this app is a great idea. However, I'm still far from completely satisfied with it as a customer because of its poor execution. 1. No Chromecast support 2. Few and infrequent content updates (ie, Videos) 3. Not even close to being worth the monthly fee. 4. The app itself is almost never updated. 5. There's almost no videos longer than 5 minutes. 6. Aside from the music videos, most of the videos are quite boring, low-budget, and irrelevant to what's going on in the world & modern German culture. There are a fair deal of translated music videos which I found to be entertaining, but there's certainly not enough of them. 7. Why don't I, the customer, have access to all the other Yabla language apps if I'm already paying a subscription? Who in their right mind would pay for access to more than one of these apps? Hook it up, Yabla. Make your service worth what you charge. The way the app is now, it should be a one-time fee paid app. There really needs to be much more frequent content to justify it being subscription-based. If you're seriously interested in paying for this subscription-based app, I can only recommend trying it for no longer than a month. I'll be cancelling my subscription soon unless Yabla makes some serious changes and improvements.. and I sincerely hope they do

Fantastic app!

This app has a wonderful approach to learning by allowing both languages to be displayed in subtitles in tandem while the videos play. Each video can be slowed, paused, or skipped ahead and backward to each sentence spoken. It also allows you to select any word for a complete definition. The library is very large and growing, and it has a decent selection of videos in various difficulty levels. It is a monthly cost, but I love having it in my collection of language learning tools. Great app!

Latest Update to App

I have my iPhone set to Deutsch to help immerse myself. Since your latest update to the iOS app, Yabla no longer shows up in German, but English, even though my phone is set to Deutsch. All my other apps are fine and display in Deutsch. Please fix ASAP!!

This app is a really great addition. A few bugs that will be worked in time, but overall another fantastic tool for learning.
