Yale Access Reviews

Works terribly, doesn't notify, crappy widget

Touchmeister on

United States

Every time they update the app it gets worse: spotty connections, wacky error messages that say it's disconnected or the device is on use when neither is the case. I can change the battery and the next day it warns the battery is low! I use the secure delivery box which functions well in all aspects, but doesn't notify the box is locked with a package inside -- even with all notifications on. At least on an iPhone it doesn't. This requires me to check the app randomly to see if any packages have been delivered. Not good.

Getting shady

Down to one star for asking for ad tracking opt-in when I’m trying to unlock the door with hands full of groceries.

NEEDS UPDATES IMMEDIATELY

So_Nova on

United States

This is so overdue for software updates. Selling a product to be integrated with Airbnb, and auto syncing with first time bookings except almost never updating the code with repeat guest bookings/any reservation changes is unacceptable, as well as not deleting past guest accounts automatically is illogical. There’s been so much hassle with this, though without these (massive) aspects, it’s a pretty helpful technology. Why not just make it do what it’s supposed to? It wouldn’t be that hard for Yale to actually fully integrate this to function.

Unreliable for Buisness use

Batal007 on

United States

We have 7 Yale locks that we use for Airbnb. Some are new versions. Our biggest complaint is that the lock does not notify us when the battery is about to die. It just turns off, and we have to scramble to get to the property and change the battery so the guest can access the unit. Another issue is that the app randomly loses connection, so we cannot access the lock remotely. So, I have to go to the property and reset the lock and all the guest codes. My experience with Yale Lock has been going on for two years. It's not a reliable lock for business.

Was great at first

job1729 on

United States

It was great at first, but after a month, everything stopped working. Not sure why I didn’t do anything. Must’ve been some software update. Had to go through the whole set up process again. And a month later it stops working again. huge waste of time. buggy product.

Easy to use

Why 504 Gateway timeout?!

EventHorizon72 on

United States

Why is there a 504 Request failed - Gateway Timed out error constantly? There wasn’t at first but now it’s constant and I cannot connect to my history/settings/etc. ??

Connection issues

1_Nik_1 on

United States

Yale is such a disappointment! Had a bridge, constant connection problems. Switched over to the module. Nope! The connection problems persisted. I have a smart home all my other non-Yale devices work perfectly fine. Many configurations also have to be done with a Bluetooth connection, which I most of the time cannot do. Also, when app updates. Bam! Airbnb integration disconnected. Was I notified? Nope! Guests make a reservation and surprise surprise, no access code has been generated!

Buggy

Lame application on

United States

Lots of bugs need worked out. Using this lock for Airbnb and it often loses connection to WiFi being less than 10 feet from an access point. I have to reset the lock in person as there’s no good function to do it remotely and I live across the country. Would consider other options until this is corrected.

Don't buy

Jussandjuss on

United States

I bought 2, one for an Airbnb and one for my own house. I liked the design and the password for the airbnb is useful. The problem is that the app doesn’t tell you when the batteries life (4 batteries AAA) the app doesn't even send you a message to prevent. One day my Airbnb guest were no able to go into the house on a rainy day because the batteries were gone. They had to wait inside their car until I was able to drive and open with the master key. Another day my mother in law was gonna take care of my dog and again the batteries were done. And is not something that you can control like: I'll change the batteries every 15 days or every month, because the batteries die according the use of the opening/closing door. So it can be a month, 15 days or a week. And let me remind you that they are 4 AAA batteries that they recommend in the instructions that cannot be rechargeable. I tried to return both and once they have been installed there is not return. Waste of money (they are not cheap) and a head ache having to have a calendar note every 15 days to go and change the batteries.
