Too sandboxed
I've been a long time user of Yojimbo on my Mac, and despite being tempted to switch to other services I find the mix of features and simplicity to be great for me. I was pretty excited to get my entire Library onto my iPad, but find myself barely using the app in favour of far more capable iOS document handlers like ReaddleDocs (or many other decent but uglier competitors like Goodreader).
My central beef is the inability to "Open In" PDF documents into other iOS apps in order to read / annotate, etc., considering Yojimbo is literally a "bare bones" archive. My only option is to Email the document, which is cumbersome at best and completely useless when I'm offline. Considering this is a $10 companion app I had much higher expectations - especially considering you can't add documents to your Yojimbo library via your iPad.
I hold out faint hope, but frankly after discussing this with the developer I don't hold out much hope. iOS support simply doesn't seem to be much of a priority whatsoever. As an alternative I'd suggest to simply export the documents you want into Dropbox and go from there.
Doesn't work for me
Only bookmarks get downloaded. Nothing else works, all I get is an empty block. I wish I could get my money back.
Creates security bigtime!
I like using this for last 2yrs instead of mainstream password keepers. They have developed many great software pieces at Barebones and Yojimbo is totally secure!
Disappointed
I have used Barebones software for years. I find the various softwares well designed and powerful. Yojimbo fir the iPad is very disappointing. First, it is read only which limits it's usefulness substantially. Second it is hard to use on the iPad alone without the desktop being on, not often the case when I am using my iPad. I am sorry I bought this software.
Great Start (Updated)
I hadn't used this app in a couple of months. When I opened it up I expected it would take a while to sync the large number of changes. Instead it told me that it couldn't find my computer on my network. I checked that Yojimbo on my Mac was still paired with Yojimbo on my iPad (it was). I checked to make sure I had the latest version of both the Mac and iPad apps (they are both up to date).I closed both apps and tried again (same result). In settings on my iPad I told Yojimbo to resync everything on next launch (same result). Eventually after several attempts it appeared to be syncing but in reality nothing was synced. I discovered that by deleting the Yojimbo app on my ipad and reinstalling it, and re-pairing it with Yojimbo on my Mac that a proper sync would take place.
This is unacceptable. I can't be reinstalling the app each time I need to sync it. I originally praised this app and gave it 4 stars. I am reducing my rating to one star until such time the app is properly repaired.

----------------------------------------------------------
This is a fabulous companion app to Yojimbo 3.0 for the Mac. The wi-fi sync between the app on the iPad and Yojimbo 3.0 on your Mac is effortless to set up, and works well. The app makes good use of the iPad's large screen.
There is some room for improvement:
1. All the entries are read-only, so you can't edit anything yet.
2. Currently there is no way of changing the way items are sorted.
3. This needs to be made into a universal app to make Yojimbo truly portable.
I practically have my whole life (home and work) stored in Yojimbo on my Mac, so this is a really welcome companion app. The iPad app is well worth it's current price tag. I highly recommend this app to anyone using Yojimbo on their Mac.
Maybe it’s time to catch up
Several years ago Apple stopped supporting Bento. Yojimbo should have stepped up to replace it. It still requires Yojimbo on a Mac (which I no longer have). This would be a great iPad app, instead it’s just a client to the app.
I’d love to have BBEdit on my iPad, it’s not here either.
I first used BBEdit on a G4 iBook more than a decade ago, and last used it two years ago when my iPad Pro replaced my MBP.
Really need Yojimbo and BBEdit, but have no way to use them.
Beyond useless
This app, when it once worked, had little value because all the files were read only. Now it doesn’t sync anymore, so it is even more useless. Don’t buy it. Even if you ever get it working, it still would not help you. Forget this (cr)ap.
Outdated
Sync requires a paid subscription and Bare Bones hasn't been updating Yojimbo in years. Once upon a time one of my favorite apps. Now I've switched to other solutions like a combination of 1Password and Evernote.
BBEdit and TextWrangler are still great in my opinion, but Yojimbo is no longer worth buying or using.
Limited functionality
Unlike some, I had no problem syncing with my iPad Pro. Unfortunately, this is a read only app, which makes it of very limited use for me. It really is too bad because I like the application on the Mac. I find myself having to use Evernote instead simply because Evernote allows me to update date on my iPad.
