YouRoutines

Контроль регулярных действий

Published by: Evgeniy Basistyi

Description

Every morning you wake up and start your day with a sequence of simple actions like making your bed, brushing your teeth, drinking a glass of water. This is usually called the morning routine. You also have other routines that you execute regularly. These seemingly insignificant actions have a huge effect since you will repeat them tens of thousands of times in your life. It is important to consciously choose such actions. The order of actions execution is very important. YouRoutines is a tool that will allow you to improve your routines with minimum effort.
- The morning routine
First, start tracking only your minimal morning routine. Write down the actions that you perform after waking up in the «Morning» routine and build a habit to launch it every day. Try to add only a minimal set of actions that can be completed in less than 10 minutes to your morning routine. These are the actions that you would not skip, even if you overslept and are late for a meeting. You can afford to drink a glass of water in such a situation, but it is unlikely you would do stretching. For activities that require more time and there is a chance you could skip, you can create separate routines, such as "Breakfast" or "Yoga".
-Actionable items
To define your routine, you need to describe it with a list of actionable items. Each time when you launch a routine you see this list. At first it may seem useless because you already have this list in your brain memory. But when you see the list, you start to execute the routine more concisely. You start to question yourself: do I really need all these items. Are they in right order? The greatest benefit of having such a list comes when you want to add a new item to your list. You just place it in the right position, and you never forget to execute it. This works like if you would put your cream next to your toothbrush to remind yourself to apply the cream after brushing teeth. This principle is often called habit anchoring.
- Creating new routines
If you are confident with your Morning routine you can move further and create routines for other activities such as meals, exercising, commuting, and learning new things.
-Features that help your stick to your routines
Every routine you create has a health bar. The routine spends health at the rate you set up in the routine settings. The health bar and reminders will motivate you to launch the routine and update its health.
- Support from friends
Ask your friends and relatives subscribe to some of your routines. This can be a great motivation for you to stick to your routines. Also, you can show them a good example of how managing routines can improve life quality.
