YWriter Reviews

$14.99 for what is basically a blank word processor program I really want a refund

suesational on

United States

I thought this program was going to have some features to help me write my novel. It's only feature I'd that it orders the chapters and scenes in the right order for you. Other programs do that for free. And it's suspicious to me that the only reviews available are for at least three or more years ago --what's that about in short, don't waste your money! And some of the reviews it says the cost is $4.99, but it's $14.99.

It’s back!!

I want my $4.99 back

Downloaded this today based on an article recommendation. Even if it was free, I wouldn’t use it.

Can be tricky.

You have to create a new project and port in the info if your file is from 5 or less to get a 7 file to use with this app and it’s not as easy as a save file as. Also Dropbox doesn’t like to delete the lock file well which causes problems with going from app to computer. OneDrive compatibility would be nice as an option.

Not very intuitive

gruvvygrannie on

I had used the desktop version for years and loved it, it was easy to use, intuitive and worked like a dream....this version for iPad I can’t even figure out how to beginning writing anything other than a description. The joy of yWriter desktop version was the ease of use. I wrote a whole book using the desktop version. This iPad version....I am gonna have to stick with using Pages because I just cannot figure yWriter out.

I Have never seen a worse app, IOS DOES NOT WORK

This is the misleading and deletes your work. Further, it does not work in the manner indicated. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!

Strongly Disappointed

devinitlee on

United States

Awkward, overpriced, inferior version of the desktop version. Purchased because of good opinions I had about the desktop version, only to be utterly disappointed by what feels like a first year coding student’s attempt to produce a mobile writing software.

It corrupted and destroyed my work

jumpman-johnny on

United States

It just deleted my entire project all 2200+ words and notes it’s now a blank file instead of my story, and as far as I can tell no way to move the file from local storage to somewhere else to attempt some kind of recovery. Feeling really disappointed considering how much I loved the software up until now.

Thanks Simon

I appreciate that yWriter is on iOS as well as Android; I work in both frequently. The Dropbox integration is beautiful. One of the things I really appreciate is the simplicity of the app while also affording me the organization of chapters and scenes. You deserve a better rating here on iTunes as well as in Google play. But know that you’re appreciated.

Great App

Marama96 on

I love how I can just get on and start writing. It is also great for keeping all the information in one place and everything I need is organized. The only thing is the menu is a little confusing I think it would be better the menu was in list form instead of icons, and make it collapsible so we can have more screen real estate while we are writing
