Free and Awesome! I never write reviews, but thanks for this. Lifesaver
Zavala is an amazing app. I love how deeply integrated it is into the OS with options for Shortcuts and Spotlight searching. My only suggestion is to add an option to use the system fonts in the font picker.
The developer(s) is on to something big here. This is the first outliner I've seen that is so simple, and minimalistic, yet also allows you to do something I've wanted to do for YEARS. Have different font sizes for each level of my outlines. I'm an outlining addict. I've been using Workflowy for over 10 years. But I could never figure out why they didn't let the user choose font sizes for the outline levels. This makes it so much easier to visually see the outline. I'm switching over to Zavala for now. It's light on features, but (in my opinion) a lot of those extra features in other outliners are a waste of time. Zavala isn't perfect yet, but I can see how it could easily be the best outliner on the market for minimalists like me!
Just... Thank you so much for making this. I have abandoned so many apps because their outliing structure doesn't allow me to go too deep without it looking terrible. Smooth transitions and unlimited higharchy. Plus I can change the font. Plus the slight tint of the background. Im in heaven <3. Requests: - *Due dates on the right hand of the note would be cool - *Font color change would be nice since its nice to write in this too. I tend to syntax highlight when note taking. - ** Multi-select: Selecting more than one line to drag would be great instead of having to create an ancesor to drag them. - ** Copy & Paste: Having the ability to copy and paste lines would be great too for repeatitive structures. Thanks for all the hard work! This was severely needed. We'll see where this app goes next :).
Editor and writer here. This open source app is head and shoulders over the pricy outliners I’ve used in the past. This developer understands what I need.
I've used outliners since the DOS days with PC-Outliner so I think by now I know a good outliner from a bad one. Many outliners suffer from overkill and they tend to get in the way. Not Zavala! It is not complicated and better than adequate to get the job done. In past years I used Tree2 but sadly it is no longer available. I apppreciated its unique horizontal view. This app is free. A big thank you to the developer!
I like structured text, so I have tried every outliner app since the iPad was first released. There are two kinds: ones that work, but only have proprietary formats, OPML or PDF exports, and ones that don’t work. This app finally solves the problem. Its minimalist interface responds just the way you think it should. It’s feature rich without getting in the way. And it exports decent markdown! One feature request: let the document go full screen—let us use a swipe gesture or an expand button to get rid of the document list, in the same way as we can get rid of the collections list.
I like writing in structured text, with the ability to fold. Don't know why Mac developers find that so hard--in other apps even simple things like tab to indent don't work. And none of have decent export. This one works *perfectly*. It has all the expected outliner functions (except hoist), all of which work intuitively. It exports decent markdown, for those of us who aren't planning to use the app just for writing, not long-term storage. It has enough basic styling options to make writing pleasant. It even has super internal and external linking. Thank you, developer! And please, don't go overboard adding extra features.
thank you very much. it's a joy to have a program which actually works and does what it says and is not flashy but funtions and has a good UI
