Zeeon synth Reviews

Fantastic!

Kebmaster on

Yep! Zeon is fantastic. It’s all over my new tracks. Has a smooth, glassy quality to it. One of the pads I programmed with it, was straight into my new track! The built in fx and dual layers make it extra versatile. Really intuitive and fun to program. My behringer neutron, td3 and JT4000 seem to love it as well!

One of the best IOS Synths

Nearly wonderful

Utterly beautiful sounds but CONSTANT crashing on M1 iPad Air 5 stymies any creativity and enthusiasm. Shame, as I love what I hear.

Fantastic Sound

The sound of this synth is awesome: Thick, rich, nourishing and juicy.

Great on iPad and iPhone, but a challenge on M1 Pro MacBook Pro

Ok, love the sound. The interface looks nice. On iPad and iPhone, it works fine. MacBook Pro (14")... well, not so great. I don't know whether it's because I'm not using the screen at its default resolution, but if I press a control, either nothing appears to happen, or it's as if I hit the wrong control. It seems as if the mouse / trackpad tracking is off. With a bit of guesswork, I was able to get as far as Learn Midi, but I couldn't get anything to respond. Tbh, I was only trying to get into the Learn Midi because the synth didn't respond to the Mod wheel on my keyboard. So I'm giving this 5 stars minus 1 because I can't use it (yet) on my MacBook Pro... pleeease fix it, this deserves the TLC. Thanks.

Ok, now I get why Zeeon is respected.

So it took a while, RTM is what helps here, there is a short one online via the website of the dev, link in the app store entry as usual. Crucial is to realise this is half-way to a modular synth, in that you have the sections or modules, and there’s the ability to assign controllers etc of the keyboard (ok midi controller hardware etc), using a thing they’ve called the matrix. The matrix, is not to be intimidated by - it amounts to eight things you can set to make adjustments, or depend on other things…I can do some, it can’t be crazy-modular after all. Small examples in the manual online of that, do exactly what the manual says under ‘matrix’ section, and make sure the ‘amount 2’ is set to something other than 0…because otherwise it has zero effect…I know, everyone else already knew that…well, I didn’t, so there. Once I clocked that, my assigning of a mod wheel to making vibrato, suddenly worked. I used the initial patch setting of ‘init’ from the Zeeon patch banks, and followed the matrix example in the little manual, and hey, I feel like I am ‘flashbulb’/Benn Jordan already. For 5 seconds, but it’s the first ever foray for me, so it was exciting. I am self-dubbed ‘Mr Preset’. Then, I graduated to grabbing an original patch of Zeeon’s that suits vibrato but does not have any. I applied the matrix example to ‘One classic brass’ of that patch bank, using mod assignments mod5 and mod6 instead of mod1 and mod2, and with a range ‘amount 5’ of 20, very happy. Saved that as my own preset, the first real mapping of these things I’ve ever done. I would go as far as to say, with the 12-page online manual, and Zeeon synth, it’s a great learning tool that also happens to be an excellent instrument. In the top dozen synths ever, probably, I have used. Top of the list on any day I want to learn more about synthesis. In the top 5 for sounds on any day, depending on your song. This is not a ‘soundalike’ thing, it’s a synthesizer. For incredibly indistinguishable ‘real’ trumpet, there’s well-known specialists (2 or three) in iOS for that. What I discovered, about realistic trumpets etc, is they can be too ‘real’ for a lot of music, maybe it’s just me. That quality, I mean that aspect, is amazing, and I have those iOS instruments for that purpose. Zeeon is top quality as a synth. Others rival it in their own ways, but Zeeon doesn’t shade them, and they don’t shade Zeeon. Very easy 5-star, it’s a great synth and should go without saying a great Audi

Doesn’t load in IOS 14.4.2

Just downloaded Zeeon & it won’t load. Reverts to iPad Home Screen after a second. Not impressed.

Very nice usable synth.

I bought Zeeon on 16/02/21 after reading all the reviews and watching many YouTube demos, it sounds good, I’m really glad I bought it, after sorting out the presets into their own separate Banks so as to enable MIDI Bank/Program Change in Cubasis3, this is going to be a very useful AUv3 synth. I have used Sunrizer for the past 6 years (more powerful), so I knew Zeeon would be a great buy 👌⭐️

Brilliant
