Zest Cooking

this app has been such a lifesaver for me. i’ve never been able to cook, i find most recipes overwhelming & youtube video tutorials stressful and hard to follow — this app breaks down recipes and cooking into bitesize, easy to understand steps with optional video tutorials that don’t feel condescending and are genuinely really helpful. i’ve struggled my whole life with dicing onions and i can finally say (SO proudly you have no idea) that i’ve mastered it thanks to this app! engaging graphics and recipes with difficulty meters make this the best thing i’ve stumbled across on the app store in a long time. thank you so much!!

When I open the app it asks me to set up an account with Apple ID but I can’t because of settings on my phone. Please make an option to make an account without using your Apple ID so I can use the app. Thank you for reading!

I like the app’s layout and the quick and easy nature of the lessons. But the big issue I have is that I selected the metric system option and the ingredients to my dishes are listed in non metric measurements (Oz, Pints of cherry tomatoes, also said <1lb) This is kind of a deal breaker, but at the same time I will happily use the app and go to the hassle of converting stuff to metric. In the meantime, I’d appreciate a fix. The metric system option is redundant otherwise. Thanks for the helpful app! Edit: Apparently it didnt select it on the intro screen! I went into settings and fixed it. The only thing that needs to be patched is the selection screen at the start. Edit 2: The equipment sizes are still in inches… Edit 3: The quantities of food as written in the instructions section remain in Imperial measurements (Oz) even after the ingredients section is updated to metric. This isn’t a big issue if the instruction add all of the ingredient at once, because we know how much that amount is in grams. But there is no indicator in the recipe that I am using whether it is an arbitrary amount or all of it. (I’m on the Pasta w/ fresh tomato and capers recipe )

I just downloaded this app and made my first recipe tonight. It is so incredibly tasty and definitely a level up from my normal dishes where I feel like I’m just winging it. I am vegan and I was pleasantly just surprised to see two out of the three recipes to start with, two are vegetarian. This app is so ADHD friendly - humorous, everything is just click and go including a full shopping list a checklist for equipment and then we get into the recipe which is just awesome. As you go through the recipe you have a little snippets of videos teaching you how to do simple steps like chopping or flavouring things correctly as well as information boxes that tell you why you’re doing what you’re doing which stops me deviating and getting bored. It felt like I had nothing to work out on my own I could see what to buy what to do when to do it and how much of it to do! I can’t wait to learn more, this is an epic app

This app was great an I used it all the time, there were several go to recipes on here I loved and the option for it to load up a shopping list for you was very convenient….however for the last week or so the app refuses to load, I’ve tried rebooting my phone, deleting and redownloading, and any other basic troubleshooting I could think of an nothing seems to work. Going to cancel my subscription if this doesn’t get fixed soon.

This app was amazing when more than 3 free recipes were available a few months ago. Now it has limited potential if you’re not willing to pay for the subscription. Way to sell the audience in a product then take it away.

As a young woman in construction, cooking in the kitchen has NEVER been a priority of mine. I got home from a long day of work and wanted food NOW, unless I had already stopped and grabbed fast food beforehand. With that came a serious lack of knowledge in the kitchen. As I started a serious health journey I realized I wanted to try prepping my meals for the week so I didn’t have to stress when I came home. Well that all sounded great, but I had ZERO knowledge OR confidence on making anything out of the ordinary until I found this app. The amount of knowledge they give you on seemingly EVERY part of cooking, PLUS how they have the recipes and pre made grocery list from your selections is so convenient and something I’ve been searching in an app for a while. Highly recommend you give this app a try!

Zest is so easy to use, the recipes are great, and I love the imbedded technique videos!!!
