Can’t use email that doesn’t contain my name/surname (?!), fee is being loaded onto the account to be used with next booking, but app does not allow me to log in. I’ve changed the email, but customer service came back to me after the fact saying that I need to use Windows base laptop to do so.
They charge you £10 for opening an account with no guarantee that your account will be opened or not. This clause is on the website but not mentioned on the app before they take your money. It is up to them to approve or decline your account. If they decline your application, you lose £10. And you don’t even get to drive. What a horrible way to make money. Charge people if their application is successful not before even approving their application. Bad bad!
They will scam you off your money even though it says that it’s a free membership, I didn’t even complete the application!
I booked a van 2 weeks before to move some things and I was only told on the day that my van wasn’t available. The closest location they had was 2 hours away and even on the phone to their team they re-booked a completely different location. When I got to the new location the van wasn’t there. I was early but they told me the person was dropping it off at the time by booking was starting. There’s no time in between so people are billed from the moment the van is supposed to be returned/ driven. There’s no cleaning or servicing in between and any damage they expect you to report on your phone but they don’t check the vehicles safety in between bookings. Absolute waste of time and completely messed up my plans.
Booked a car. The car didn’t show up until an HOUR after the booking time.
The Zipcar idea is excellent, and (newish user here) generally works well. However the app has an annoying tendency to misplace cars. Twice recently it has given the location of a car as a specific number of a specific street, but on booking the car it changed the location to about 100 metres further away. Turns out the second location stated once the car is booked is incorrect, but curiously it’s just around the corner from the correct one, so the car is out-of-sight when you get there! Please stop doing this!
I joined a year ago but only used it once for a pre booked 2.5 hour trip. Found a great automatic Polo about 10 minutes walk away, and all fine, great user experience and good car to drive. But weirdly the next month they replaced said car with a manual Fiat which I can’t drive. There don’t seem to be any auto cars now that can be booked for a few hours. There are lots of auto options that are available by the minute, plus a ton of vans, but just no auto car options that can be pre booked for a few hours. Such a shame. Plus the app isn’t great. You can’t sort results by auto cars and exclude vans - as said there are tons of vans - goodness knows who is using them all - which clutters up the results and makes the user experience a bit frustrating.

rip-off service. you get charged £15 to apply, presumably non-refundable if for some reason you make it. then immediately afterwards they want to tack another £30 “premium protection plan” charge. that’s all before you even rented a car and lord knows how many other charges they’ll throw in along the way. wouldn’t recommend.
