This app will not allow you to work the abacus. It automatically moves beads you don’t want moved in order to ‘clean up the board’. Makes this app useless for new abacus users. There are no settings with this app, and there is no way to turn off this annoying, app killing feature.

The abacus is neither a Chinese version with 2 heaven beads and five earth beads nor a Japanese version with one heaven bead and four earth beads. This non-traditional hybrid is thus confusing to someone experienced in either traditional version. It should have both versions of the abacus and would then get five stars.

This app is great because it not only serves as a great general calculator (something hard to find without tons of "glitz") but it is also a virtual abacus. I learned a lot of basic math on an abacus as a child. As a tactile learner it helped me to excel at math. I've retained a certain fascination with the abacus. Something sentimental perhaps. None the less I highly recommend this app for your everyday calculations. This app feels "solid" in a sense. And NO IN APP PURCHASES!
