Action Tour Guide: Experiences

Great tours and ok app. It would be nice if we could see the map on Apple CarPlay, but that is not possible. We can hear sound and then see the map on the phone.

We tried this app for the Celebrity tour of LA. It was really bad given directions. The map i always pointing north, which make it hard to follow… sometimes the line on the map i blue, sometimes it is red. Very confusing. The dot that represents your car is also blu, making it hard to see. The speaker some times explain about a house to see on the left, where it’s actually on the right. Also, when the guide starts to speak if flips away the map, making it hard to figure out what you are looking for. Also No Apple Car play. Cannot recommend.

Want to spend 4 hours or 40 min the responsiveness of this app was awesome. Realized after that we could have even broken the tour up into 2-3 shorter sessions which would have been perfect if our kids were younger.

My family and I loved this tour! We loved the experience of going at our own pace and being in the comfort of our own car! I can’t wait to try another one! Valley Forge here we come!

WOW! This was definitely the way to go. For starters, we visited Gettysburg Battlefield and it covers a lot of land. We had a baby with us so this was the only option that would be a good fit for us, but it was the best experience. We learned soooo much and it automatically started as we got to each spot along the tour. We got to learn all about Gettysburg from the comfort of our vehicle! I definitely recommend the auto tour!

We booked this tour through Viator and were sent to a different site- this was not clear when we booked, and on the second site, it had no record of our purchasing tickets. Eventually, we did get the tour downloaded, but started out over an hour later than we planned. On the tour we passed many spots that had no audio explanation-even some listed on the tour. We came to a spot where the path ended, but no direction given. We left the area and walked the whole harbor area (with several numbered spots of interest on the tour map) but no audio explanation. The audio picked up a bit later. We didn’t bother finishing the tour-too frustrating-and we just wandered beautiful Charleston on our own. We enjoyed our day, no thanks to the tour and would have preferred to use our ticket money elsewhere!

Great orientation and intros for the Cape Ann area towns. Trough us to areas that we never would have been exposed to even while driving the scenic byway. Learned a lot about the history also. The tour lasted for just the right amount of time considering the amount of driving involved! I will find another one somewhere else!

We listened to the Mt Desert Island tour in Maine in and around Acadia National Park. When done with our tour we decided to eat our first lobster dinner. When we asked our waitress/manager how long she’d lived here, she said her family went way back to the first lighthouse keeper on the island. We’d just learned a great story about that keeper-her great grandfather! We played her the story from our tour and she learned a whole new story about her family!! It was a fabulous little coincidence and it made us feel like we’d made her day just like she’d made ours. Thanks for the great tour and all we learned.

We did the clockwise tour of Lake Tahoe from South Lake Tahoe-it was interesting!! Especially nice was the ability of the app to re-engage when we went off course and then came back—- for example we took a side trip to Truckee for lunch, and then as we came back to Lake Tahoe, the app re-engaged and came back online. Sometimes we had to tap again on the specific Tour within the app, but other times it re-engaged all by itself—both specific to where we were on the lake.

Only reason I gave it a 4 star rating is that we had no guide to bounce questions off of. The app worked really though and we were pressed for time. By being able to geo locate us at all times, we were able to go as quickly as possible and the app was still able keep us informed based upon where were. Hope to use the app again at another historical site.
