Played daily from the beginning. As expected, you can’t really do much without spending $$$ but as this is entertainment I didn’t mind. Fast forward and several hundreds $ spent, I notice a charge from the game I didn’t do. I investigated and couldn’t find what “I purchased” so I reached out to Apple and got a refund. The very same day I get a message on the game telling me that now I owe them $$$. The restricted the game and are threatening to suspend my account if I do not spend back the $$$ Apple refunded me. So beware, they will scam you and if you are not happy or act on it, they’ll blackmail you. $$$ is really not an issue, but I won’t be bullied or blackmailed. You’ve been warned :) Update!!!!! Following the developer generic response designed to give the impression they care, I did as they suggested and contacted customer support. More time wasted just to be told “I'm sorry. It's automatically detected by the system. We can't intervene.” They will scam you with $$$ charges you didn’t make and if you catch them and dispute the charge, Apple will have your back and refund you, but that will upset the “developers “ and they will start to block or restrict your game as well as sending you blackmail messages. As the games been going on longer it feels like the developers are getting greedier. Specifically the recent paragon changes and anniversary rewards have peeved me. I’ve spent probably close to 100 dollars on this game but the value out of that was minuscule and I regret it now.

Yeah, it’s a gacha game, but the low spenders and f2p are already treated horribly. Don’t even bother with PvP unless you plan to spend hundreds per month.

I’ve played this game since the beginning. Looking back over the past year, Lilith and Farlight have become increasingly stingy with their f2p rewards and mechanically hostile towards their free players. I say this a p2w account. With the insulting anniversary rewards announcements, I’m leaving a one star review to warn other players that this is not a f2p friendly game. I hope I have a reason to change it in the future.

After a whole year of being one of the most expensive gachas on the marking and making more money than 95 percent of other gachas, they don’t even have decency to make the first anniversary free. 10 dollars to participate in an anniversary event. Beyond pathetic.

They just keep getting greedier and greedier. Rewards continue to slow down and the game is becoming even more P2W. Don’t even give free anniversary gifts. Shameful

The game is pretty entertaining for the most part especially when you’re new and have the stories available to play. Once that’s done it’s mostly competitive play, which is fine, but don’t expect to be anywhere near the top unless you spend money. A lot of money. This company is incredibly greedy. Most games have fairly cheap transactions. This game is $100+ transactions to start becoming slightly more competitive, though you’ll never beat the credit card whales unless you are too. This game is definitely “Pay to Win”. Lilith knows it and continuously paywalls everything as the game ages. Just look at the anniversary event. A total slap in the face to anyone who is “free to play”. If you feel like downloading this game and enjoy stories then this is definitely a good game. Just don’t expect to be competitive unless you have deep pockets.

Greedy ahh devs

One year anniversary is around the corner and all of the rewards worth any value are locked behind a paywall, Lilith consistently raises the bar for scummy money grubbing payment models for rewards and even putting more money into the game then most other gachas still doesn’t reward players with long term investment into the game with any real value. Complete disrespect for long time players

Been playing since global launch after the art style and unique character designs caught my eye. At first I enjoyed this game and it felt like the developers were really trying to implement new unique modes and listen to player feedback. However after awhile it became clear that things are repetitive and more and more P2W with each update with little regard to feedback (especially when new Celestials and Hypogean units are added). What really broke the camel’s back for me was the anniversary rewards. I understand a game needing to be profitable but having to pay for the decent anniversary rewards is a slap to the face to the community, even to those considered whales. It’s the one time the developers can say thank you to its players. This being the first anniversary for AFK Journey isn’t an excuse either as this isn’t Lilith’s first game. I’ve occasionally purchased noble paths when I could afford it (broke college student) but now I won’t be purchasing anything else from this game.
