Extremely advanced, but misses some features
If you use Mailmate on MacOS you’ll probably like this app. There are so many options and settings to set. If you are like me-an average user that just looks for something alternative to Apple Mail, I really don’t know if this is for you. You need to spend a lot of time checking emails to make use of all options in this app. However: I miss the possibility to integrate with Things3, or to even share with Things3 through the Share-icon. I do like that AltaMail doesn’t use their own solution for linking back to the mail when shared with Apple Notes and other apps available for sharing. Canary uses canary:// airmail uses airmail:// and so on. This means you must have Canary, Airmail and so on when clicking such a link. AltaMail uses message:// which is standard and means you can open it in AppleMail. However: when sharing (they call it Open in app ...) with Apple Notes, it saves the mail as an .eml which will not open in Notes. Apple Mail saves (if you choose Print) as pdf, and Airmail, Canary saves as clickable links. So the sharefunction in AltaMail is in my view not good enough. A plus is the fact that they provide many different languages. My system is Swedish, and AltaMail is automatically set up in my kanguage. As dies Airmail, but not Canary or Spark. The AltaMail UI is not the nicest for the eyes. This and the many mant options you mire stumble over than actually find when looking for it, is a minus. All in all: if you are a heavy user of email , I guess Altamail is a good option on iPhone and iPad. If you are line me-an average user who gets maybe 50-100 emails a day, it is perhaps an overkill. And it does not provide what I want frim an email app-easy sharing with Things and Notes. The app itself deserves a high rating for massive users I guess, and combined with a very excellent support it is almost worth top marks. The non-existing support for Things3 (and maybe other todo-apps), the issue with sharing and the rather boring UI drags it down though. I really WANT to give this top stars, but to be honest I can’t. My needs are better met with Airmail or Canary. And indeed-the free pre-installed Apple Mail.
