Easy to use, but lacking in effective pedagogical content
Regardless which version of American English Pronunciation you download, the most they offer is some listen and repeat of random words and phrases and some traditional listening discrimination drills with items in random order. With no explicit focus on the sound being contrast for the target sound and no attention to the sound’s environment (the place in the word or the following sound), these apps are not as pedagogically effective as they could be. The graphic user interface is quite easy to use and fairly well designed, but the pedagogical content does not make these effective for a basic introduction to these sounds.
