It’s improving!
This is my old review pointing some cons of Amperfy:
It’s definitely the best free app that works with SubSonic and Navidrome, but it has some big problems: - The downloads (or “cache”, are the same thing on Amperfy) is a mess, it will download all songs you play (unless you opt-out) and you cannot bulk delete specific songs (aka select the songs you want to delete), you delete one song, or you delete the entire library. - Buggy notifications that you cannot swipe will block the top of your screen, this is so annoying. - The player looks ugly on older iPhones (maybe on newer too I tested on iPhone 7) with an unused space at the bottom of the player and no enough space for the UI at the top. When these problems get fixed I’ll happily change my my review to 5 stars. Some other things that can be included to make the app better are: - Option to refresh the library to remove missing albums. (I have to click the album to make it disappear after deleting it from the server.) - Option to start on Offline Mode when long pressing the app on home screen.

Now this is my review after some updates:
I’m happy to see that the app is improving, the “cache” was changed to a more user-friendly nomenclature, “downloads”.
It works nice with Siri and the option to prevent the phone from turning off is awesome! I love to see one of the few clients available for Subsonic that doesn’t lacks in basic features getting updated with more useful features.
Trash
This is legit the most atrocious music app I’ve ever used. Idk how they managed to screw up the next button but they pulled it off
iCloud Storage Issues
All cached files are being included in my phone’s iCloud backup which is maxing out my cloud storage. Hopefully this will be fixed soon.
Update ruined it for me
I loved Amperfy, I have been using it for quite a while now to listen to music off my Navidrome server. It’s been great, the interface was clean and simple, and everything worked how I expected/wanted it to. Last night there was an update that I ran, and now this morning I see what it was. Now if I go to my albums and hit shuffle, it doesn’t just shuffle all my music like it has since forever, no, now it picks a random album and only plays music from that album. I had to add the Songs tab to my homepage and I have to shuffle everything from there. Also the playback menu has changed and has way more unnecessary buttons and things I never asked for nor cared to have. I thought Amperfy was going to be my sole music app for my phone, now I guess I have to start looking for a new one. Maybe I’ll just go back to Plexamp.
Not built for scale
I had high hopes for Amperfy, it was the cleanest looking subsonic client app I’ve come across on iPhone, but it is completely useless with the size of my library (70-80 TB) Even after background sync reached 100% (which took a couple days), the app is unusable with every tap taking 15+ seconds to respond. Running on newest iPhone and iOS, Navidrome
Very nice
I love this app but it will not work with CarPlay :( it’s there, but none of my music shows up in any menu. I can pick out single songs with Siri and they play, but that’s it. I want to use this app and the SubSonic ecosystem but a huge requirement for me is getting it all to work with CarPlay since that’s how I’ve done most of my listening with Plex currently (which I’m trying to replace)
cannot sort albums by recently added
i really like the design, but the fact that you cannot order albums by the date they were added is a dealbreaker for me. i find it very strange that there is a separate screen for latest albums, and it only shows the most recent ~20 albums.
Ok but somewhat lacking
Unbelievably, this is the only application that works with Apple CarPlay. The major problem is there is no “Recently Played” album category, which is a major drawback. I wish it had this. If it did, I would give it five stars.
nice app!
using it with navidrome
Nice app!
A perfect application for handling my server’s music library.
