Shirabe Jisho

It doesn’t do everything but overall it is the most useful and practical iOS dictionary for learning or reading Japanese. It’s reasonably easy to navigate, it gives ready access to conjugations and to sample sentences, and you can search for names as well as dictionary words which can be helpful. I haven’t found the list and flash card functions so practical but they aren’t the core function of the app. Really solid.

This app never ceases to delight. It’s so easy to use, comprehensive and intuitive. Honestly, I don’t know where my Japanese learning would be without it.

Have been using this as a beginner and it has been a life saver whilst learning Japanese intensively in Japan. Would be even better if saved vocabulary lists could be synced across devices for study.

Have relied on this app for several years and use it to study flashcards daily great tool to drill subjects such as dialogue you hear in movies or other sources. When I hear a word I don’t know I use this app to add it to a flash card deck and it learn it through repetition. I also add phrases as supplied in this app.

After spending 20 years, struggling to find the Kanji I’m looking for, this dictionary is a godsend. So many terrific features. I’m still working them all out. I love it.
