appTaxi - Book and Pay Taxis

Downloaded the app and tried multiple times to set up the profile. In every instance it defaulted to a pre-set profile that was locked. So I could not validate my details which made the app useless. Deleted and onward.l

Need a different way to be able to make an account other than a Italian phone number! Most esims for travellers are now data only with no mobile number. I cannot use the service due to no number. Please create another way to sign up.

Requested to add a number to Airport Fiumicino to pick up because “the address is not very clear.” Marvellous.

In Trieste and wanting to book a taxi for tomorrow. Downloaded the appTaxi app. Spent 20 minutes setting up a profile. Added a payment method. Entered pick up point and destination. Hit ‘Next’ and was informed that appTaxi does not accept bookings. There was a ‘Call us’ button next to the useless ‘Booking’ button. So it’s not actually a booking app. It’s a phone book. Useless.

Driver claimed they needed a street number in order to drop us off so that they could keep driving around to jack up the price - despite the metre saying 28 euro. What was meant to be a 20 euro drive became 40 euro because of this incompetence.

The taxi driver was very friendly. However, unfortunately, the quoted amount of our fair was €86 but ended up costing €150. That is a big difference and potentially would have changed our plans.

Given the poor reviews I was unsure what to expect when using this in Florence, but it’s worked pretty well. Usually taxi’s arrive 1-2 minutes after the expected arrival time, but we’ve received nice drivers in clean cars and haven’t had any issues. So if you want to get taxi’s around Florence I’d recommend looking past the old reviews and using this app.
