Articulation and Phonology

Beschreibung

The Articulation Assessment Toolkit (AAT) is able to provide a very detailed picture of a child's articulation skills immediately after the assessment. Standardized assessment provides a limited picture of a child’s phonetic and phonemic inventory. (Elbert & Gierut, 1986). The AAT app can be used to identify articulation errors patterns in children and adults, while supplementing data obtained from standardized assessments.
The Articulation Assessments Toolkit (AAT) is an individually administered clinical tool for screening, identification, diagnosis and follow-up evaluation of articulation skills in English speaking individuals.
2.Uses
-Collect information regarding an individual’s articulation skills;
-Supplement data of a standardized articulation measure;
-Determine the presence of an articulation disorder;
-Measure treatment efficacy;
-Determine a follow up therapy plan;
-Quick administration of articulation screening;
-Screens articulation skills to determine needs for further assessment.
3.Features
a.Ability to enter student’s name and track progress over time;
b.Tests all phonemes of the English language including clusters;
c.Offers two options: Screening & Full Assessment
d.Ability to record student’s production with the same tool you are using to administer test;
e.Complements information of standardized measures;
f.E-mail test results immediately after administration;
g.Automatic analysis of speech production by:
h.Provides immediate positive feedback to students throughout the test administration;
i.Sample recording of target word is available as you touch each image;
j.Compatible with the iPod Touch, iPhone & iPad;
k.Ability to add notes on the app during the assessment.
Administration Time for the Screening is between 4 to 8 minutes. Administration of the Full assessment is from 9 to 20 minutes. The administration varies depending on child’s attention span, use of sample recording for target word and use of recording feature.
Recording the errors is very simple. The green phonemes have been enabled to be clicked. Only click on the phoneme if the student has made an error.
For the screening testing once you click on the green phonemes the phoneme becomes red and it records that the student has made an error on that phoneme. If the student has produced the target word accurately proceed to following target.
The AAT was developed by Barbara Fernandes, a Trilingual Speech and Language Pathologist and Smarty Ears.

Disappointed

Denver School SLP on

As an SLP, I was very disappointed in this app. It did not have every sound in each position. The target words are very difficult for kids, such as olive and dove. The scoring is not sensitive enough to capture all types of errors. The report has many charts that are not helpful for analysis or parents.

Information at your fingertips.

This is a great app. It generates reports, shows data in various ways and is therapist and kid friendly!

The sentence test that’s included really helps further assess students that are able to say the sounds in words but struggle at the sentence level. I use it almost daily!!

Awesome app for SLPs

What a fabulous app!! The AAT assesses articulation and phonological skills at the word level and at the sentence level. It provides comprehensive test results which makes analyzing the data and writing goals/objectives so much easier! I highly recommend this app to anyone who provides speech therapy services to children who present with communication needs.

Great Information and fun for kids too

My kids love using the iPad for anything and will go through all of the pictures and love it. This gives a great report at the end and parents like to see the progress. Great app!

This is my favorite app for articulation screenings. It’s quick, easy, and well organized. I love using it for progress monitoring and initial evaluations! Only downside is used the app on my iPhone and couldn’t access the R-screener, which was frustrating. Still highly recommend!

Great app for SLPs

This app is great for SLPs. It is quick and it holds the child's attention so much better than paper artic tests. I love the addition of the phonological component. So helpful and such a timesaver! The district in which I work just got iPads for all SLPs and I have been showing this app to a lot of people. This is a great way for me to track progress and write IEP present levels. Some of the pictures could be better.

Very Engaging!

I work with students who have a complex learning challenges. This app engages them much better than a paper test, and pops out a super-thorough report when we're done! I love it!

Makes testing fun and efficient

Sunny has become my favorite artic & phonology testing resource. The pictures are engaging and I have yet to find a client who doesn't enjoy "flipping" the pictures and saying the words. I love the data collection and report that automatically populates with specific errors and diagnostic findings. This app is a great investment for SLPs. No books to get ripped or protocols to run out of!
