Got over insomnia in a month!
After a night scare, I was struggling with insomnia for more than 4 months which affected my work and personal life a lot. Living in another country where the primary language wasn’t my own made me feel alone and doctors couldn’t help me either. Things took a turn after watching the YouTube success stories, and I decided enough was enough so I purchased the app. The coaches were helpful though I didn’t have access to them on weekends (understandable). I started to sleep day after day all within a month so I unsubscribed from the app earlier than expected. Now I am equipped with good knowledge and I try to help others struggling with the same situation. I thought I would take me months to get over this problem and it was torture at times. I have more empathy for people struggling with mental illness now more than ever after this experience. If you are tired of taking melatonin, doing stupid sleep rituals and taking sleep medicine that makes you feel crappy all night or the next then, then take a chance on this app! Why not? What is your sleep worth?
Can’t recommend enough!
This app was truly a Godsend! If you are struggling with insomnia, I highly recommend checking out the Sleep Coach School on YouTube. If those teachings resonate with you, then this app will do wonders. I had tried a more traditional CBTi before this one, and it felt like I was being punished for my sleep issue.
This program is highly focused on educating you on the scary, lonely, craziness that is experiencing insomnia. The program teaches the importance of self care and letting go to resolve insomnia. I started sleeping better almost immediately. Having the sleep coach was key! Coach Chris was so encouraging and helped me connect my experiences to the teachings. I recommend this program to anyone who wants to resolve their insomnia without taking a medical approach. After about a month of learning and working with Coach Chris, I feel confident I’ll be able to leave my insomnia in the past!
I never write reviews, but this helped me so much that I feel like it’s important to spread the word. There is hope out there for anyone struggling with their sleep!!
Worked really well for me
BedTyme worked really well for me. It took a while, almost eight months in my case. But in the end I moved well beyond insomnia. It is important to realize that it is not just an app. It is a comprehensive program consisting of lessons the app teaches on a daily basis which encourage you to greatly rethink how you understand relate to sleep and the help of a sleep coach who responds promptly during the week to your messages. My sleep coach, Beth, was excellent. She patiently, gently, and wisely nudged along the whole time.
Turned it All Around
During postpartum with my third baby, I had a full sleepless night (even though baby was sleeping) and I was unable to nap during the day no matter how hard I “tried”. I panicked. It was such a foreign feeling. And that turned into many compounding nights until it was a full blown disaster in my life. It messed with my brain chemistry so badly that I couldn’t see a way through it. I felt incapable of taking care of my three small children. I saw so many doctors and different types of therapists. I was forwarded this app by a kind stranger overseas on a WhatsApp group who was tipped onto the fact that I was struggling tremendously with this. It turned it all around. Understanding why in fact I developed the insomnia, why nothing seemed to “work”, and learning how to untangle it from my psyche has brought me back to life. This journey through has become an enormous metaphor to life, these modules and processes. For you self-help interested friends…it’s kind of similar to the foundation The Untethered Soul (Michael Singer) but for sleep. It’s digestible, hopeful, motivating, so friendly. I’m thankful now for the whole experience and what the wilderness of this season has ultimately taught me (still is). Expecting that it won’t be perfect from here on out but I can and will cope with what is as I’ve proven to myself. I just dropped 8 prescribed meditations into a drop box at cvs. Good riddance. Writing this review just praying you give it a chance. 🙏🏼 thank you to these angel creators and coaches.

A sleep therapist costs less
If you have insurance it’s cheaper to see an i-cbt therapist. No app should be $329 a month when it cannot replace the actual treatment.
Anxiety produced insomnia
I came back to update my review because Daniel changed my life forever! I am completely recovered from insomnia and have the tools for life to help me get through those bad nights. This app, his book and his Youtube channel was a saving grace through my 5-6 month bout of chronic insomnia. I am so so thankful to have come across him and I pray others lives are changed through his miracle work!
Makes sense but be careful
This program hurt me more than helped because I avoided medications when I really actually needed them before trying this. I had a sudden panic attack 3 months ago which triggered a lot of new anxiety. I followed the program to a T for several weeks and was sleeping 0-2 hrs tops a night. It wreaked havoc on my mind/body and slowly turned general anxiety into suicidal depression. I failed to recognize that no amount of “befriending wakefulness” or attitude change toward sleep would cut into the anxiety that I was dealing with at the time. I mistakenly believed that if I just stuck it out long enough things would gradually improve. Instead it made my situation worse. If you’re issues aren’t that severe (I.e. you’re still getting core sleep to function) then I can see how this program or any CBT-I program would benefit after a couple of months of consistent application. But don’t be naive and make the mistake of avoiding medication if you’re not that stable and your issues extend past just “sleep anxiety”. By all means use them and other therapy until you’re stable enough to wean off. To function I am now forced into trying meds after 3 months of torturing myself and finding that they aren’t effective because what was initially just anxiety morphed into severe depression. And meanwhile I basically conditioned myself to be awake nearly 24/7. In reality if I’d went on meds from the start of the incident when things were fresh I would have likely maintained what it felt like to fall asleep and be asleep until the tide calmed and I was stable enough to use this program along with a medication taper. So don’t do what I did and completely avoid meds out of pride or thinking you don’t need them because you have this app to ‘save you’ from medication.
Apart from that the app works well and modules themselves are simple and informative (noticed quite a few typos in there which is not a great look but that’s not important anyway). My coach was responsive the one time I reached out, reply seemed kind of cookie cutter and felt like repetition of the material (not criticizing, it makes sense). Surprisingly my Coach did not ‘check up’ on me at any other point. So they are there for you but I guess don’t expect them to be hitting you up regularly to see how you’re doing.
Truly a life changer
Insomnia had me in its claws for several years. I tried all the usual pills, potions, blue light glasses, strict bedtime routines etc. I tried two other apps, a sleep school recommended by my doctor, and a sleep doctor. All made things worse.
Then I learned of Bedtyme. It has been fantastic. Education that makes sense and is easy to follow. The coaching that is part of this is fantastic.
It works! It really works. And as an added bonus there is so much content helping me in other parts of my life with anxiety, happiness and LIFE!
Trust this app. Dr Daniel Erichsen is brilliant and caring and is spot on with his approach!
