Nice idea, very poor execution. Signing up, payment, add/manage goals, all have to be done on their website, you can’t do it on the app.
I honestly don’t know what I’d do without Beeminder. (Actually, I do, because I didn’t have it for 28 of my 29 years on this earth, and I found it way harder to get stuff done.) While the mobile app struggles a bit with refreshing data that is autogenerated from sources like Gmail and Toggl, it’s a helpful companion that I use mostly early in the day to check what goals I need to focus on that day. The full site is better, in my opinion, but I know the developers are working hard, so I’ll be patient, as I’m sure I’ll be using Beeminder for the rest of my life. NOTE: if you have ADHD, this app is a must-have!
I was having issues with using my notebook for ADHD purposes. If I forget my second brain, what good is the notebook? Someone reminded me that I normally remember things that cost money and I searched for something that would add the weight of cost to my goals. Beeminder has done exactly that. I use my notebook at least two times a day now without fail! Five gold stars!
Please add a widget feature so you can see some progress data at a glance Also, the home menu isn’t really useful if you only use one beeminder graph
My one complaint about the beeminder app is that it's hard to check my goal fine print -- I was previously using the "share" button to pull up the goal on beeminder.com and check that way, but now the share button is gone too?? :( Other than that, great app. I like that it's simple and not flashy -- it doesn't need to be slick or addictive; it just needs to work well for data entry and checking on my goals, which it does. Like a lot of Beeminder users I have ADHD, and historically I have sucked at doing normal life tasks due to executive dysfunction; Beeminder is the first of *many* apps, systems, and strategies I've tried that's actually gotten me to (among other things) consistently brush + floss my teeth every day and shower on a regular basis without intervention from a Real Adult.
A faithful rendition of the Breminder.com site (though I wish Beeminder.com had a different UI) and, as a result, one of my essential apps
Beeminder is a fantastic app for people who want to track their progress and hold themselves accountable for reaching their goals. The app is very easy to use and has a clean and intuitive interface. One of the things I love about Beeminder is its unique approach to goal-setting. Rather than simply setting a goal and hoping to achieve it, Beeminder helps you stay on track by imposing financial consequences if you fail to meet your targets. This might sound harsh, but it's actually a very effective way to keep yourself motivated and accountable. Another great feature of Beeminder is its integration with other apps and services. For example, you can connect Beeminder to your fitness tracker or to-do list app, and it will automatically track your progress and update your goals accordingly. Overall, I highly recommend Beeminder to anyone who wants to take their goal-setting to the next level. Whether you're trying to get in shape, learn a new skill, or simply stay organized, Beeminder can help you stay on track and achieve your goals.
Beeminder is an incredibly useful tool for motivation and achieving goals. Their iOS app is merely used for goal tracking and not for payment — I hope it continues to be available for a long time! The web site is clear on the fact that users are signing up to pay if they don’t follow through on their commitments to themselves. One reason this works is that humans are naturally highly loss averse – I have caught myself spending an hour working on a project that I really wanted to do, but the initial spark was a desire to avoid paying $5. The end result is a profound satisfaction with what Beeminder helped me accomplish. I’ve used Beeminder for many years, and I’ve really embraced the idea that, as the app’s creators write, “Paying is not punishment.” Far from cheating it’s users, Beeminder is helping its users be true to themselves.
I’ve been using the app for about 5 years at least. It was immediately so helpful that I paid for a lifetime subscription. The financial consequences of not keeping to a goal are the incentive I needed- and the cost of derailing is never more than I am willing to pay since I can control the range.
