The reason for the low score is one too many cliches I have encountered. To many times the health determination is ‘over water or under watered’ I already know that, but for the app to not determine which is useless. Also too many ‘opposie we have encountered a problem’ Wonderful for a watering schedule because I have a small jungle in my apartment. There are also cliches with the fertilizer scheduled such as I state 1 month and it give me an insane status of 165 days???? Now to top this off after I subscribed a year ago, instead of rolling over to the same amount they want to ‘roll’ it over at twice the amount. I have probably a hundred plants and will be transferring information, schedules, and care to a different application I have already started the cancellation of this one.
This app has many crashed on IOS 17.6.1.
I signed up for the 3-day trial and within minutes did not like the app. There was no clear way to cancel in the app, so I sent a message. I got no response, and they collected a payment the next week.
“Only” $5.00 a week for their basic, $8.00 a week for their top. That’s $20.00 a month and $240.00 per year for this app…for the basic part of it. “Only”. And “only” $384.00 per year for premium. Guess I wasn’t expecting that much, but that’s a super hard pass.
There’s a newer app called Rhubarb that offers more for less $. They have a cute plant assistant and I was told by the developers that an update coming this week will do ID and diagnose disease. I’m loving it! I’ve used Blossom off and on for a few years and it works fine. I wanted to try it again and I was forced to subscribe to access my account. I was shocked at the price increase and even more shocked that it really hasn’t improved. Very disappointing, unsubscribing.
The sick plant feature diagnosed every plant as “over watering, yellow leaves….” even when that’s not the case - one was withering after I forgot to water, so I used it to test app. It tells you to zoom in on the problem, but looks blurry when you do (I have an iPhone 15 pro max phone), and then uploads a zoomed out image regardless. Provided feedback to the creators, and suggested adding the ability to crop photos to capture the issue clearly, and to include a “challenge” feature that allows you to provide the AI more details if you think the diagnosis is incorrect… Like the concept so hoping it can be improved with a version update.
All the problems that I have had tell me the same thing - overwatering is just as bad as under watering. Maybe even worse…….
I’m a novice plant owner and I rely on the app to keep me on track with watering and other plant care. I was fine with what I was paying per year but know they want me to pay $40 more?! I’m so disappointed. I will have to cancel my subscription.
