Understanding a language is more than words describing words. Words are only 7% of a conversation. (Albert Mehrabian) To correctly interpret an interaction, a person must combine the meaning of words and the 80% of conversation: non-verbal language. Some people call this body language. And it is a language. It’s not one gesture, posture, position or distance. That would be like hearing one word and know what the person would finish saying! Some think body language is a gimmick; it can’t be trusted; it’s different for different cultures.
