BookBuddy Pro: Book Manager

Amazing app but can not believe no way to sort author by last name. It’s how it is always done but not even option here????

I didn’t think it could get any better but with the latest big update it just has! I wouldn’t be without it for managing my book collection and keeping a wish list. Likewise MusicBuddy and MovieBuddy.

I use this and its partner apps MediaBuddy and MusicBuddy most days. The data is stashed locally, not in some cloud where you have no clue what it may be being used for. Backing up is easy. Restoring from a backup is easy. Everything is made easy for you, though it takes a little practice to find some functionality, like the loaning and borrowing aspects. A couple of suggestions, if I may? First up, I’m very pleased with the new statistics capability. Would it be possible to add the ability to select your reading statistics from date ranges, please? At the moment, it offers “month”, “year” and “all time”, rather limiting its use. Being able to input a user supplied date range would be very helpful! Secondly, I’m not sure if any books that you have borrowed and finished are included in your statistics totals. At first glance, it looks to me that your page statistics are only calculated from books read from within your own collection. Would it be possible to add books that you borrowed and completed to the statistics? Perhaps a separate drop-down, or maybe integrated stats. Finally, and this is a very big ask. If your company were to create an app for comics, I believe it would be a category killer. A “ComicBuddy” would make an excellent addition to your stable of inventory apps, and one I would certainly include on my own list. Thank you!

I have only downloaded in the last few days and is very intuitive with great functionality and also looks great, I like the ability to search online to change book covers to reflect the actual books I own rather than the latest cover that is being sold. It would be great if you were able to import from either Kindle or Calibre to make it easier to catalogue large collections.

A very reasonably priced catalogue for book collectors. I currently have just under 6500 books listed with photos of covers etc. perhaps a little clunky when trying to amalgamate publishers names where the same publisher can be listed with several different variations. I currently volunteer in a very large charity bookshop and am always recommending this app to prospective collectors.

I have used this app for several years now, following a rather exhaustive search of what was available to catalogue my large and ever-growing library. I have a weakness that compels me to buy and read books, of many genres, new and pre-loved. As my long-suffering wife returns one book to a second-hand shop, I am usually found purchasing three more. Simply put, this is a superb app. It continues to evolve and improve. After I have considered what might be a useful development, I find that my mind has been read, and the helpful addition added in one of the fairly frequent updates - even before I have have had it requested! I do not know what alternatives there are now to “Book Buddy.” I no longer am interested in looking. Even my wife will admit that having catalogued the thousands of books we share, over a number of places, has been a welcome and useful task. I do not usually write reviews but, on entering yet another of my library additions, it seemed appropriate to laud “Book Buddy” for having become truly indispensable. I dread to think what I would do if it were to be unsupported one day but, hopefully that day will never come (and I will always be able to use the uploaded .CSV file backup, anyway!) Thank you for continuing to improve what I often believe can be improved no further . Refreshingly, I am invariably shown to have been wrong, yet again. It is, simply, all I could ask for…

This is the most useful of all my productivity apps. Highly versatile and customisable - they have thought of everything. (With a couple of tweaks I can imagine also an alternative version being very useful for early dementia sufferers to locate every object around their home or even histories of interactions with other individuals).

As a librarian (I’m also doing a phd in history) I am very used to cataloguing and sorting books, etc. For a personal collection, this is a great app and very intuitive. I would have given this 5 stars were there also a macOS app (at a similar price) available, and (I may have simply not found the feature yet), but a way to look at total purchase price of all books, as well as having a current value option to add as well. I also have a list of all my isbn numbers (I borrowed a library scanner to do this), so it would have been nice to be able to import isbn lists - although I realise I am probably in a minority who actually has a list of their isbn numbers like this in an excel spreadsheet! A tick box or something similar for signed copies would also be good. Other than than that, this is great app, and I had a look at quite a few before settling on this one. Great work!

Book Buddy is a real help in cataloguing my books. I can keep track by a wide range of filters, including genre, author, title, or customised tags, and it comes into its own when I’m in a bookshop and wonder if I’ve already got a book which catches my eye - a quick check on Book Buddy on my phone helps me to spot duplicates. Scanning new books, or even an existing collection, is easy. All in all, I wouldn’t be without it now!

The app is excellent. Easy to use with a clean distinctive layout. Would like a cover flow but not vital. What really distinguishes this app is the excellent support team - they are very responsive and really helpful. I had problems with the initial csv import and they were determined to make it work and they did. Very much recommended.
