Catena: Bible & Commentaries

I love the daily word from the Church Fathers. Occasionally the commentary translations cutoff and could use some proofreading.

I’m so thankful to add the wisdom of the Church Fathers to my daily readings. Such a blessing!

Catena lets the user choose to see commentary from the fathers of the Church, turning off commentaries from other sources. In addition, the user can set up the app to send a quote from the fathers each day. It is wonderful to be able to read the scripture and, when encountering some difficulty in understanding, to turn to those great Christians who have run their race before us, ensuring that our understanding aligns with the mind of the Church as it has been handed down to us. Catena has been a tremendous blessing. May God bless those who labored to make it.

Great app other than the fact that the daily quotes from the saints are riddled with typos

I use this app to help me practice the Orthodox Faith where we are called to read scripture daily. Even though I am grounded in the Slavic tradition, the Greek lexicon is satisfactory (not completely aligned with the Slavic, but close enough). I love the references from scripture to the Church Fathers and the cross references to other scripture passages. As a software engineer I recognize a well-built app and appreciate effort required to achieve the level of quality evident in the app.

My go-to bible app even as a Protestant. I so appreciate the insight and wisdom of the Fathers and the daily readings.

A great enhancement that is ever ancient, ever new for study and contemplation. In these writings we have the preserved wisdom of our church and it seems like pure gold. I don’t always understand because I am slow to grasp these commentaries but I always appreciate them.

Extremely well made app, helpful commentaries

It’s easy to dive through for study or for simple reading, as an amazing platform as well for commentary to study of the holy word. I see and hope that the time for its helpfulness, simplistic offering of guidance, and general utility be universal to all. A simple an amazing app for archive and going back to the word of the father, moreover spiritually.
