On several occasions when it’s losing, it calls a draw after 3 similar moves - not identical moves…really weird to program a chess game to cheat.

If you’re serious about chess, this is the best chess game in the App Store. If you’re a beginner, or just a really poor player, this game is not for you. The ads are annoying, so it is worth paying a few bucks to remove them. Some controls are not intuitive. If you want to play as Black, you need to click the up/down arrow to switch, not the black/white rooks. HEY DEVELOPERS: please make this intuitive. I wish I could choose the Staunton chess pieces design (no choices available) and a black and white colour scheme instead of grey and red-brown. HEY DEVELOPERS: I’ll give you 5 stars if you fix this!

Chess HD used to be a good game. It’s ad supported but the ads were tastefully displayed and didn’t detract from the game. That was then. Now, what the hell are you thinking? Do you think you’re going to retain users with these bloody ignorant video ads, with multi view ads, with ads that dominate the screen for minutes at a time? You need users. If everyone deletes this trashy app — like I will right now — then your ad revenue will drop to zero. That’s greed for ya! Outta here….

in the last month starting a game takes up to 30 seconds cause you have to come in and out 4 times before the game can begin Reset the start button reset the difficulty and two more I have restarted the computer many times Updated apps but still nothing

Smart game

...goes book or non book opening...very hard to beat on high levels...have played this for years... seems to know what I’m always planning...if the game is close in the end game, any tactical imperfection by the player will be met by the computer in a slow crush...

Great program but won’t rotate into landscape mode.Hopefully the next version will...

To avoid a checkmate the app makes a pawn move several squares like a bishop! I have screens to prove it!

This game is very fun and happy for me and my brother

I really, really love this game very good and fun for beginners like me who need help and also the undo button is a great idea along with the thing where you have 4 pawns and you bring one to the opposite side to turn it into a queen, a castle, a horse or a diagonal guy thing!
