Theses courses are the best way to interactively learn chess!
After finding this app, I’ve improve at chess majorly. This has changed my whole play style and taught me many things about chess. It has been teaching me the ponziani opening which I already briefly knew. But with this I’m exploring the 74 different variations of the Ponziani opening (white). Overall I’m really happy I found this app and I’m really grateful for whoever created it. Well done 👏 -Mitchell D
Don’t get me wrong, I love Chessable. Over the years I have sunk hundreds into purchasing pro memberships, video courses, and random books. This app is also something I cried out for for years! And it is quite good. Overall, it’s let down by bugs. MoveTrainer regularly wigs out with no possible move, requiring me to end and restart my training session. Just now I was having a great training session and midway through I got booted back to the login screen. It also is a little cut back in functionality. For example, if you want to use rubies to go “double or nothing” or enter a “streak protect”, you can’t manage this from the app and need to use a desktop. That’s fine - but it would be good to have some visual cues in the app to communicate this to users and prevent them clicking around and googling trying to find things that are not possible. Annoyingly, I can’t manage notifications in the app… and I have badges showing that I can’t “clear” - requiring me to turn this off at the OS level. Ideally, we’d have offline sync for this - to allow training while on domestic or long haul flights etc… but really all we need at this point is stability during a training session.
CHESSABLE IS GREAT FOR BEGINNERS GRANDMASTERS AND EVERYONE IN BETWEEN A lot of lines in these courses seem to be thrown in by the the authors to fulfill the size requirements in the publication deal with Chessable Lines they would never use in reality I would love to see a coarse with the main lines and their evolution where needed so much to remember best filled with usefull chess
The learning initiative on this platform is good
Very nice app but sometimes a piece stuck/double vision in the middle of the board and glitchy UI.
It’s hard to imagine how this app was designed with such lousy navigation when reading books. Apparently people have been complaining about it for several years. I tried the web version and it is just as frustrating. Once I work through the couple of books I’ve bought, I probably won’t buy any more. The developers should pay attention to users’ complaining and fix the problem.
I enjoy using Chessable on my computer but this app is endlessly frustrating. I am unable to go from one lesson to the next without having to exit back to the chapter screen and scroll down to the next lesson manually every time. This is despite having the auto lesson function turned on. I have tried turning the auto lesson switch on and off again and even deleting the app to no avail - after I finish a lesson it only gives me the option to exit rather than continue. I looked online and found forum posts on chessable dating back several years with people citing the same issue and yet still nothing has been done to fix a seemingly simple yet crucial feature of the app. Pretty disappointing to say the least. It seems to work for the ‘Learn next’ function for the entire course, but I don’t often use this because I like to learn multiple chapter simultaneously, and unlike on the desktop version there is no ‘learn next’ button for a specific chapter. Would happily upgrade to 5 stars if this feature was rectified
