Chessable: Study Chess Smarter

2.5/5. Really good for my training but beware. In my experience (I’ve brought several courses) the videos cost 2-3x the initial course but add no value whatsoever and because they have a monopoly on this sort of training they don’t care to really fix it (other sites are popping up similar to their design: check out chessreps and chesstraining.app)

Very useful out from learning opening tactics. I’m surprised you still can’t pull up an analysis board. That would be incredibly helpful. Also, I would love to be able to work with the opening Tree in the app.

I bought pro because I take a lot of flights. Chessable does not work at all on these flights. For some reason offline mode needs Chessable to connect to the internet at least briefly in the beginning, and then every time you reopen the app. It also just is terrible otherwise. No updates in 5+ years. Wish the lazy/incompetent/greedy owners would close up shop and leave room for some actually competent. competition in this market that only allows one winner.

I throughly enjoy this training tool.

They moved so the formerly free lessons worth anything behind their PRO subscription. Cheats, just like half the players on chess.com.

Chessable is the best way to learn chess without a teacher. I am a Chessable pro member. Unfortunately, this app is buggy. It crashes frequently, even after I reinstall and clear app data. The offline mode is VERY buggy, including synchronization issues and the app’s general inability to recognize some downloaded videos in offline mode. These bugs substantially compromise the value of Chessable Pro. It’s frustrating that the online platform is so much better and less buggy.

Chessable is an excellent resource for learning. Whether you are a novice or expert, there are courses that are appropriate for your skill level.

I became a pro member and after downloading a few courses the app keeps on crashing. Support has not been helpful.

I signed up for the trial on my phone. I’d like to use it in the browser too but I don’t think I ever set a password and the reset emails don’t get to me. Also I keep getting this Lost Connection screen when the app is trying to save my account. My internet is fine. It happens pretty frequently and it’s annoying. I don’t think I will continue after the trial.

Every time I try to sign up or login, I get an error message.
