ChessUp

A lot of obstacles to enjoyment so far. Moves do not register occasionally and the interface with chess.com is very bad. My board is currently making its way through an endurance session of “hold on waiting for a WiFi connection”. no buyers remorse yet, but I am a little bummed :(

For those of you that play rapid 10 minutes on this board, you might be aware of the bug where the opponent just lets time run out and then it doesn’t make them lose, and if you go on chess.com (the app) and do a game review, it will show that you abandoned the game and that they win. Please fix it. ONLY 5 STARS SO PEOPLE SEE IT REAL RATING 3 STARS

The Chessup app is pretty bad when it comes to updating the firmware. I received my Chessup 2 board last weekend. First update was not the friendliest. Now I’m currently trying to update to the latest firmware. It keeps failing, and theres no way out of it, making the board unusable. To the devs, please fix these bugs / updates.

I tried to log in with Facebook. But I keep getting the error message: “We are having technical difficulties with your log in. Please try again later.” I don’t know if there’s a way to fix this or if this will be fixed in a future update.

Great when it works. However, I just received my Chess Up 2.0 and the app doesn’t always play nice. The lessons section will consistently spam “wrong touch” no matter what I do and this makes the phone continuously vibrate and keeps you from continuing the lessons, making them useless at the moment. It is also missing lessons past the beginner section for me. I have also had it just cancel my match a few times mid match. The AI recommended I move my pawn diagonal when I wasn’t taking a piece. I am not a chess master but I’m pretty sure that’s an illegal move.

Can’t connect to my phone. Tried for days.

Having used it for three weeks, I enjoyed every play. The feature that indicates the best options is fantastic, but for beginners, it should not be enabled to allow them to make errors and think about solutions.

Tech support is very helpful. The board and app work well together on chess.com and lichess, if you are playing a live person on either or the bots on chess.com. It needs to allow positions to be set up on the app that then upload to the board and that is something in the works. For now it’s too cumbersome to make this happen (need to go to external site then export and import it on the app and this is way too many steps). Needs to have more content for lessons and it will be perfect.

Love using ChessUp to play on chess.com and also to play with my kids OTB. Works flawlessly.
