Classic Sudoku by Logic Wiz

The features are great, especially the ability to use Apple Pencil and sketch out certain tactics without creating an error. The learning hints are great ways to learn advanced strategies.

Really nice if you’re trying to uplevel your sudoku skills. I was used to paper sudokus and the NYT ones, and this has the ability to do two different kinds of notes + color coding and drawing on the board, so it’s really helpful for more complex sudoku or for learning new techniques. The dark mode is also really nice. If you’re trying to learn, the hints and strategies can also be helpful. I like that they have a glossary of strategies with drawings, but sometimes the explanations are confusing. Still, this has helped me become a lot better at sudoku. The ads on the free version are *really* *really* over the top and annoying, though. Like, borderline unusable. They’re doing the “frustrate you so much you either spend the money or hate the app” strategy, not the “ad revenue makes this worth giving you a decent experience” strategy. So if you’re looking for a free app, this is not the one.

I’ve looked at many Sudoku apps and this is one of my favorites. Even works on a plane when you don’t have WiFi.

This app systematically introduces more difficult strategies and gives more than enough boards to practice each strategy. I have improved tremendously in a short period of time.

The game-play is decent, but not my favorite. I would have considered paying for the upgrade if the free version hadn’t been so annoying with the ads. I’ll pay for an app if I think it’s good, but, on principle, not just to make it stop ticking me off.

I enjoy playing sudoku here. Very tasteful.
