Classical KUSC

There is a great line in an early Sean Connery James Bond movies comparing drinking un-chilled Don Perignon to being as bad listening to the Beatles without earmuffs. Classical music will inspire people for countless more generations. It is supremely timeless.

In addition, I cannot understand a word Laura Downs says other than her name. She speaks too fast and too low. Have her model Brian L who I love and is great!

KUSC is by far my favorite for radio & streaming music.

I love living in a time when I can listen to my favorite radio station from growing up in SoCal in the sixties in much of the world. While programming has evolved over the past half century, I appreciate that unlike other “classical radio stations” online KUSC is still run like a real radio station with curated playlist and programming - curated by actual musicians and musicologists, not by algorithms developed to curate whatever is popular this week or even just thrown together at random. The app has typically worked well over the years and I appreciate the ability to select from many (semi)fixed playlists in addition to just running the live stream. The sleep timer is also an unusual and very nice feature, I just wish it was technically feasible to be able to set it up to either fade away instead of cutting off, or to play until the end of the current track. That said, the app is not as stable as it was in earlier versions. It now has a tendency to stop playing when I set the phone down and it goes to lock screen. In terms of programming, I prefer programming that emphasizes complete pieces, not just isolated movements from pieces. KUSC does pretty well at this but not as well as in the past. I guess they may be pandering to people with short attention spans.

I listen to KUSC during driving. I live in a large metropolitan area with many expressways and traffic problems. KUSC calms my nerves and helps with control of rage at stupid drivers.

I listen to KUSC all the time—working, doing things in the house or garden, in the car, going to sleep. I especially love the Arcade stream and the Sunday morning’s Joyful Noise.

Friends from Ventura, California, told me about KUSC. Now, I’m so grateful to be able to hear this beautiful music whenever I wish to. Thank you. 🎶

With the multiple channels and an impressive catalogue curated by knowledgeable DJs. This app makes for an easy decision to keep in the rotation.

I work a stressful job over night in a Juvenile Probation Facility. When I’m able to log I listen, to help me focus, when I Drive home I listen to calm me mind and Decompress. Thank you KUSC for my PEACE of mind and helping me Not take work home.
