Clay: Contacts + CRM

My best friend found a profile of her on this site/app that contains employment and other data unavailable outside of her first-level LinkedIn contacts. Which, even if someone was somehow able to access, should clearly not be used without permission in a public place when someone has put walls around the info. She is navigating a major safety issue. These people made her even less safe. But get this, it gets better: She had to enter a credit card AND also choose one of multiple bad options — LinkedIn, which she’d deactivated, or google contacts, or iPhone contacts, to link. She could not make an account and attempt to delete the information that Clay used unethically, unless she gave them a credit card and access to her Gmail contacts. She contacted customer support and also Matt achariam, the founder. So far, no reply. These vultures are stealing data for profit. It’s unclear that she actually was able to delete, either. When she deleted her info, it kept repopulating.Also, guys? Your AI writing reads like dog food. It’s clear to anyone with three brain cells that no human being wrote these profiles. Obsequious error-ridden garbage. Shame on you for stealing and stressing out people who need privacy. Can’t wait to read about the inevitable lawsuit.

Clay is the CRM I’ve been looking for. Easy integration with all my networking apps (except instagram), clean easy to use interface, direct linking to multiple contact points. I’m leaving HubSpot!

I’ve been using this for almost 3 years, since it was in beta. It’s constantly getting better and makes it easy for me to see a full picture of my network and relationships.

App onboarding is broken and keeps freezing on iOS 17 Last steps tried to force me to invite people to the app without consent and screen won’t let me remove invites or proceed. Forced spam and no consent for marketing. Terrible

Finally switched over from Contacts+ and happy so far. beautiful app with keyboard shortcuts, fast search, and responsive team who responds to feature ideas. iOS app has good widgets and Shortcuts support too, so feels very native

Overall, the experience is unstructured and doesn’t follow user intent. The app fails to recognise different social media accounts as just different accounts by the same person, so it creates individual instances for each account. You have to manually merge these items, provided you can find that function. When you try to log into your account, it takes a really long time until the confirmation email arrives. It looks like the designers and developers didn’t do any user research or prototoype testing with actual users. It would have given them an opportunity to remedy these problems. The app feels conceptually missing the mark, leaving the user expectation largely unfulfilled.

On my iPad it makes me sign into the app from the App Store which is fine but the web browser would probably be better suited rather then the iPhone version of the app on the iPad.

I had high hopes for this app. Despite the many bugs I ran into, the features were compelling, so I fought through them (retyping deleted notes, crashing, etc.) and started using it regularly. Then one day all the settings I spent a lot of time on (which people to give me reminders for, which not to) all restarted. All of my work was gone. I reached out to support - nothing. No response. I’m so disappointed and frustrated. I paid for a year subscription and they said nothing about all the issues I ran into. This app is more trouble than it is worth.

You know you have a good app when you get an annual subscription reminder and you are excited to pay it because of the value that it brings to you. I thought the cost was a bit high last year when signing up but this year, I’ve been really impressed with the speed of development and adding new features that are impactful. I’m also a big fan of their support. I’ve always gotten thoughtful responses. If you want to be more intentional with your relationships, I recommend checking out Clay!
