Clean Text

Can’t do almost anything. What’s the purpose?

I found this app through google. This is a great app and I’m not able to find equivalent functionality in even the most ‘powerful’ text editing or word processing apps in the appstore. I find it strange though. If you search for the exact name of this app, the apple appstore doesn’t put this app anywhere near the top of the search. In fact you’d probably have to scroll past a hundred apps or so before you get to this app. Also I’m unable to see this app if I just search for “text search and replace”. In other words it’s nearly impossible to discover this app all on your own in the appstore without the help of google. This app deserves better.

This app actually made another app more valuable. I record a lot of notes on my watch when I’m performing other tasks. The app transcribes decently but the text is a mess with a multitude of unnecessary line breaks. Cleaning it up was a tedious, time-consuming task until I found Clean Text. It does the job in a couple of clicks. Just that much saves me an enormous amount of time, but the app has many other helpful features, such as find/replace, a selection of formats for changing case, converting, replacing, extracting, all laid out in a simple, easy-to-use way. It would be a bargain at a higher price.

I need an easy way to copy and paste without all of the formatting baggage from different file types. For example , going through CVs I need to copy from PDF Word etc and put them in my own document ( in my case Apple pages or Word) just select what I want paste it to Clean Text Then copy from there. How can this still only be a “ non subscription app??” Thank you for making it an affordable one time purchase

I created a ticket for what seems to be a bug (using caret (^) for beginning of line in regular expression search fails) more than two weeks ago. No response so far. The user manual and example exercises could be much better.

This is the utility you didn't know you needed! I use this quite often, when working with text information. I don't know of any other so that can do what this one does. This app can save an incredible amount of time making repetitive changes to a document. The undo capability allows undoing 1 or more changes, so if you mess up, you can usually recover, without having to start over. If you are technically inclined, doing a search and replace using Regular Expressions can be very powerful. I can't say enough good things about this app, with all of the benefits I have received from using it.

After using this app for sometime, I just noticed regular expressions if you scroll to the bottom of the options! Awesome! Thank you!

I was a bit dubious of this and other similar apps. Would it be worth the small purchase price? Would it do the very simple thing I needed it to do by taking text from other apps and stripping it of all its formatting so I could paste plain text into another app? Would it be cluttered with cumbersome “features” that I had no use for and that just got in my way? I’m happy to say that it does a great job of allowing me to paste formatted text from apps on iOS devices and strip it down to bare bones plain text which I can then paste as simple, plain text into other apps — a feature the iOS should obviously have built into it but badly lacks. In addition, it has an unobtrusive menu of options to manipulate text in useful ways if that’s something you want or need to do. You can change case, quote or de-quote text, quickly and easily sort lines of text, find and replace text, and even allows for the use of regular expressions. You can also save the text as a note or export it in other ways. You can do all of that and more by clicking the wrench tool icon which is located at the top right corner of the screen, but you never need bother with or even see it if you don’t want to. I hope the creator of this app continues to support it over the lifetime of iOS because I find it an essential utility which I use dozens of times a day on my iOS devices. In fact, I’ve written this review using it before pasting it into this review.

...when using the app Replace or RegEx functioning while using Apple’s Dark Mode, the input text turns white and near impossible to read. One must disable the Dark Mode temporarily as a work around making this convenient app, inconvenient.
