Collective: gay friends, dates

This app is just 99% men posting thirst traps… I scrolled through it for 30 minutes and found nothing of substance. To create your account you’re even forced to follow 10 profiles of random half naked strangers to kickstart an algorithm of even more shallow random people. Don’t bother with this app. I was hoping it would offer a way to connect with actual people about specific topics or events in the area (specifically for pride etc.) but there’s nothing like that. The hard push on shallow “follow for follow” behavior and lack of actual community content makes this a really toxic attempt at a “gay community app”.

Found a sense of community and opportunity to connect with like minded individuals—much more in depth than other apps allowing you to make the connections in person and also online

Love the app and the sense of community that you can already see forming in the space. A great alternative to the traditional social media platforms for queer folk.

I saw an add for Collective about making friends. In the first minute of entering the collective you’re asked to follow 10 people before you can even explore the app. There were seemingly only hot naked people there, which was not ideal for me (to say the least) due to a certain type of addiction. Then I wasn’t able to find any setting that could filter out nudity, suggestive posts etc. You can only make a photo/post disappear one by one. It seemed to me like a combination of the worst of Instagram, Grindr, and Onlyfans. It’s not for friends. It’s people posting themselves naked.

Recently got recommended this app and now am hooked. Great safe space to express your self

Finally a platform where queerness is being celebrated. It’s not based on likes/followers but on making connections and showing things you like. There’s so much positivity and I’m happy to see more and more diversity joining Collective ♥️🏳️‍🌈

As self-identified tumblr addict from back in it's hay-day this app feels very intuitive. I love the way the feed works and i love the gif making option for your photos. The community is really beautiful and feels authentic. Love it!

Collective gives us queer creatives a space to unveil, create, express and celebrate our authentic and beautiful selves. It’s an online community I was waiting for without knowing it✨

I enjoyed it the app at first and was able to chat with some nice people. But over time as more people joined, everything got more distant and toxic, the only way to get a lot of likes is by showing skin and if you’re not fit you don’t get as much engagement.
