A great game still tempted to buy the expansions for this game as well. It’s hard takes time to figure out. Wealthy heir getting money is best start. But you have no job you can only get menial work. Physician then police man the gubber and gubber office job imo lowest hardest. Keep at it it’s difficult but keep at it well worth £6.99 endless replayability
Why did I pay for this rubbish it’s boring and confusing deleted
If you like punishing, you’ve come to the right place. Cultist Simulator is a genuinely fascinating and engaging virtual card-game where you only have one save and there’s no take-backs. It’s a game of trying to reach ascension via Sensation, Enlightenment or Power. The game works by making you learn the rules as you play, and by periodically dropping difficult challenges in front of you. It’s fun, and sometimes immensely frustrating. The frustration is the killjoy for me. Mess up your timing or selection once? No take-backs! Get distracted by anyone or anything whilst the live timer is running? You lost your job! And it’s easy to miss the build-up of game-ending problems with everything that’s going on. Although there’s a snap-to grid for the virtual cards, the organisation system is your own, and as it gets busier and busier it’s harder and harder to keep track of what’s going on. There’s no real warning you’re nearly at game over until a card or system turns red - and by then, it’s probably too late. This is fun. I’d buy it again. But stand back, and you realise that it’s got elements of a rat maze made harder by what appears to be degrees of random chance. The only way to learn is the hard way. And I was kind of hoping we’d gotten beyond that in game design now. But hey - I’d buy it again and I’ll play it again. And again. Eventually I’ll win. I hope.
From Whom Nothing Is Taken, But Who Cannot Be Deceived. You Might Expect To Be Able To Crush Him In Your Hand, Into Bird-Bone Fragments.” The Elegiast does not forget. And, having played this game, neither can I. My mind is awash with the tales of the Mansus- like the painted river itself flows between my temples. And when the tide rises, maybe then I will glimpse something myself- some vague hint of those shapes, those beautiful shapes hidden so close to us, trapped behind the world’s skin. Oh, how I desire to open the way. Tl;Dr: Good game. Go play it.
Not a fan of timed games, from the outset you’re behind the clock and no time to enjoy the game play, beyond me how it rates so high, don’t waste your money!
Charged me £5.99 even though I’ve never even played the game
Over a year ago, I first gave this app two (2) stars. I played it a few times, couldn’t understand it, and deleted it. In the three weeks since I re-downloaded it, I have won twice, lost countless times, and become completely immersed in Cultist Simulator’s compelling and mysterious atmosphere. Let me be clear: this game is hard. It takes time to work things out, it’s infuriating when you unwittingly end the game before you can win. But once you’re into the (admittedly steep) learning curve, it is incredibly satisfying to know how to combat various events and happenstances, and when (/if) you win, it feels well earned. I don’t review many games, only if they’re awful or amazing. Cultist Simulator is amazing. Exactly my kinds of game, exactly my kind of atmosphere. 10/10.
Adore the game, I’m a long time fan. But on multiple occasions I’ve had hard crashes that don’t allow you to load the save file, the only option is to begin again. Beautiful game idea ruined by aggressively hostile user interaction in the meta-game.
I have seen many reviews that claim this game is too difficult of makes no sense in some regards, they are both right and wrong I believe. Yes the game lacks a tutorial and does not help you at all but that’s the point, it’s a game where the more you play the more you learn about how it works, when I first started off I barely had any idea what everything did or could cause to happen but now I have at least enough to be able to know when to hold off or go all in, trying to rush the game is not a great idea either as it can cause you to fall into trouble your not yet ready for, patience is the key here for the most part. Yes you have limited resources and such at times and again you have to know when to stop, the game allows you to pause it for a reason it’s not just to stop whatever’s going on but to in my opinion allow you to think before you act and decide how best to use those resources and when to use them. Overall while the game can be challenging once you actually get the idea of how everything works at the basic level your more or less set for the entire game as you can then advance your own knowledge as you go and if you die or lose the game then pick yourself up and try and try again.
