Poor Performance and Buggy (M4 iPad Pro)
I have been using iPad Pro in M2 since DaVinci Reoslve released its iPad version and it is buggy everywhere. And now I am using M4 iPad Pro and thought it could be better but I found it was not Apple problem, it is BlackMagic. No full function page (Edit, Fusion…), I need to use keyboard to have all pages with shortcut. I have no idea why BlackMagic want to hide all of these functions by default. In Edit page, everything is buggy, some function I could see is specially designed for finger to touch, and some functions need keyboard or mouse to function properly. For mutlicam edit, it is super laggy and has no idea why it lags. M2 and M4 is able to play smoothly for multiple clip, how come in DaVinci Resolve, it couldn’t ?
I am not going to pay for fusion version until most of the functions are there.
Best Video editor
It has way more features than Adobe Premier Rush and iMovie. It is easy to use also.
It is running quite smoothly on my iPad 10 although it is design for M chip Mac products.
It’d great if the app is actually usable…
Using iPad Pro 13” M4 model, but the app keeps crashing randomly. I’m not sure whether this is an issue from the app side or the cripple iPadOS, but whatever it is the app unfortunately is not usable at all. The crashes all so random that I cannot even try to troubleshoot. My guess is the issue is the crippled, bizarre iPad OS Files app/system. Hope iPadOS 18 and/or Resolve 19 would make the usable without having to worry about crashing. It really is great when it works, it’s just that it always crashes and is unusable.
Great way to edit while not with Mac BUT
I am a DaVinci Resolve Mac user and I love to edit and color grade from this powerful tool on my Mac. By the time DaVinci release iPad version, it is a big WooooW to me. And these are something that I had faced during using the iPad version. Hope BlackMagic could take into consideration for future update.
1. This app is designed for M Chips running on iPad Pro, mine is 11 inch iPad Pro running M2 chip. The layout is good, it has all the functions that it supposed to has, but the review window size is so small. I tried to adjust it but very limited space for me to enlarge the review window. If it is possible to have more space for me to enlarge the review window, it will be fantastic.
2. This app has hidden majority of the function like edit, fusion and even deliver tab. There are so many videos teaching how to enable these hidden function but once quit the app and restart the app, the tabs are all gone again. I need to connect back to my keyboard and enable those hidden tabs again, but when I am outside,I don’t have my keyboard with me, the default edit page is super difficult to use. It makes me not wishing to use the app on iPad anymore.
I hope DaVinci could review my feedback and make it better experience for editors to use anywhere, anytime.
Nothing more to ask for…..
Coming DaVinci Resolve for desktop. I felt at home. Now i can edit on the go and does support external storage. Now my video workflow is so effecient.
Phenomenal use of Power of the iPad!
The iPad has always had great amounts of power, especially after the M1 and M2 chips. This is the first app that actually properly uses the power and it gives us an amazing experience
It’s wonderful to see that DaVinci Resolve on IPad
I’ve used this app to help with my video editing for most of a year, I stopped for a little bit while saving for a new iPad that I can edit in my preferred resolution with. I setup a cloud and folders for working between my desktops and iPad while on the road or otherwise not at home. The issue I have is temporary but annoying, I upgraded to 19 on my PC and Mac, for some of the features I use, however you can’t open 19 projects on the current iPad version, so until 19 is out of beta I can’t use my mobile workflow
HEIC Photos not working
Ive enjoyed using the app, although it does have a pretty steep learning curve. There are certain things I hope the ipad version gets down the road, like being able to record audio from the fairlight? Tab, but the main issue I’m having right now is that all my HEIC photos are green, and messed up in a project that I've been working on for months. They were fine until recently, and when looking for answers I saw other people saying they are having the same issue on Mac as well, so not just an ipad issue. I have the studio version, but am pretty disappointed that one of the “features” that I paid to be able to use (HEIC photos I think are only in the studio version) isn't working, and with how much work it would take to convert all the photos, and re add them to the project makes this a pretty frustrating bug. I also saw someone mention on the resolve forums that this issue isnt a problem in the beta of V19, but I dont know when the update will be out of beta, let alone when that version might come to ipad. Other than the no audio recording, and this bug, I do think that resolve is the best app to edit videos on Ipad as of now. There are so many things you can do in resolve that no other app can do, just hope they continue to update, and refine the ipad version of resolve since its already great, but has so much potential to be the go to professional video editor on ipad.
Seriously?
So this app doesn’t give me an option to add videos from the iPad photos app, and it won’t export to the photos app. It works alright once you get the media where it needs to be, but come on.
