Decarbon: Climate Change App

Decarbon provides such a simple and user-friendly way to monitor your carbon footprint through your purchase patterns. I like that it offers educational resources on individual climate actions that are very feasible and low effort. Whether you are a climate conscious user looking to make a difference or just simply interested in understanding the impact of your daily actions, this app can provide meaningful insights for incorporating more sustainability in your daily life!

Having done a lot of carbon apps that take ages to set up only to get estimated numbers about yourself, this was so quick (maybe even less than 2 minutes for me to setup) and it had real data about me I’ve never seen calculated (i.e. my purchases). I liked being able to switch to show I use renewable energy at home and that it provided more actions for me to take beyond measuring my footprint. Even after I checked off the reductions I‘ve made there were still lots left for me to do. And I like that I can offset here as well - all in one place.

Does not work with large text.

A well designed app that brings awareness to our individual impact. Encourages us to be more mindful of our decisions. Easy to use whether or not you know anything about carbon footprint. I appreciate the energy of the approach, as it doesn’t dig into your guilt/shame, but is just there when you want to be a part of change.

We need more data in our lives to tell us what kind of impact we are having on the environment. Decarbon provides me and my family an easy way to see how quickly our footprint becomes hard to justify. And to have the ability to offset from inside the app is awesome. We’ll done.

I will never give you my bank info

The app setup mandated a link to my bank to see my lifestyle; otherwise I would have to enter each purchase manually. I’m NOT crossing this RED LINE. I have solar panels & an EV already. I am deleting the app now. By the way I learnt of this app from ABC 7 evening news.

As someone who doesn’t know much about carbon offsetting / budgeting, I think the app does a good job introducing these concepts to me and most importantly, visualizing how my every day purchases are impacting the environment. The dynamic offsets feature and easy setup with your bank makes tracking a seamless experience, and I look forward to reducing my carbon footprint! The app seems to have some cosmetic bugs that need to be addressed, but otherwise, I can see myself using this fairly regularly.

Informative and unobtrusive. Immediately understandable features made the app easy to set up without any issue!
