Detention is such a good game absolutely worth every second. From start to finish, it pulls you into a world that’s both deeply unsettling and stunningly crafted. The atmosphere is thick with tension and melancholy, creating a constant sense of unease that perfectly complements the story. What really stood out to me was the art direction. The backgrounds are hauntingly beautiful, almost like walking through a series of eerie, living paintings. Every detail feels intentional, adding layers of meaning and emotion to an already powerful narrative. It’s not just a horror game, it’s a thoughtful and an emotional experience that stays with you long after it ends. This game was insane and I mean that in a good way. Like I am in absolute awe. The graphics? Beautiful. Story? Amazing. Characters? Heart wrenching and real. Length? Perfect— could have played it even longer. I really loved the old Taiwanese architecture used throughout the game and how the whole main storyline is based on the real events of a 1947 high school during the Taiwanese White Terror. I am an American and I try to learn as much as I can about other cultures since a lot of history and cultures are left out of the American education system. I knew Taiwan had been through a lot on its journey to independence and being the human rights haven it is today, but I had no idea the extent it went to. My eyes were opened by this game to something I had remained ignorant to until now. More games like this should exist. It’s a beautiful way of making people truly immerse themselves into history to understand what people experienced during that time period and learn about another culture. I highly recommend this game and can’t wait to go download RedCandle’s other game “Devotion” (it cannot be bought anywhere except their website now due to political controversy and banning issues). My only warning is that this game will throw you through an emotional roller coaster, so be prepared to go from spooked in the beginning to on the verge of tears by the end. I finished this game during my lunch break in public and I’m not the type to cry in front of people, but you best believe I was struggling not to after I finished playing. Absolutely amazing. 10/10 Thank you RedCandle Productions for making this beautiful game ❤️

Playing this in 2024 and it’s difficult to find a game that keeps you interested, with good jumpscares and all but also leads you down a story without being rushed or anything. This game has much potential, even though it’s 7-8 years old now it still has that spark to it. I absolutely love this game, I got a little emotional throughout 😭 I hope to see more from Red Candle games

super duper good 10/10 would play again, I was confused for some parts like the clock part but I got it after like ten minutes.

I loved playing this game because it was a new cutscene and mysterious clue at every turn. The story was amazing, which I won’t spoil to any new players. I enjoyed the game so much that I played the game multiple times to get the secret ending. This game was definitely worth the 5 dollars I paid.

I found the story and folklore of the game difficult to relate to. But that doesn’t warrant a low rating on its own. I actually would give this experience a 5 out of 5 but the overall tone of it turned out to be very bleak. :( I appreciate the creators for putting this together. Fair warning to anyone who may struggle with mental illness, this “game” has a lot of triggers. But there is a fair disclaimer from the creators. “Hope is a good thing, and good things never die.”
