Fantastic game!
Probably one of the best Japanese Role-Playing Games I have played so far. If you like turn based combat from the earliest Final Fantasy games, then you will love this.

Played the DS version on which this is based and I still enjoyed it just as much this time around on my iPad. The chapter system gives this dragon quest a unique flavour, with Torneko's chapter (chapter 3) being of particular note. This is solid RPG which can easily take 25-30 hours to beat, with post game content adding to this. Certainly worth the price tag in my opinion!
It just crashed and I lost an hour of progress, that made me sad. Some of characters are extremely weak to begin with so grinding required to get anywhere. Game has a certain charm so i want to forgive these issues but, on reflection, i have better things to do with my time.
A great rpg, with nice music and a good plot
Waited a long time for it ( for the Mobile version ) and wow , I have not been disappointed ...
Love Classic RPGS you'll love this. Please keep releasing them Square
Another great game. Love the older Dragon Quest games. Would love the old Dragon Warrior Monsters and Dragon Quest Monsters on the iPad.
This is a port of the Nintendo DS port of DQ4, so you get the new 3D backgrounds from that version. On the tiny, low res DS screen, they looked fine, but on a retina iPad screen, be prepared for giant pixels. The worst offender are the sprites, which are so low resolution as to be rather abstract. Crude visuals aside, we have an additional problem, and it's huge. The game runs in portrait mode and there is no way to run in landscape mode. This feels wrong from the outset, and never gets better. It's a stupid, idiotic decision designed exclusively for Japanese commuters on busy trains. It's a game breaker. The game itself is a fine old school RPG, albeit one with a poor localisation filled with attempts at strong regional accents, which makes some of the dialogue impossible to decipher. I just wish his port wasn't so poorly done. It's also only 30fps on A7 devices, which makes no sense.
Dargon Quest 4 for the win
