Dwarf Fortress Remote

I’ve been searching for a mobile game with the decent depth for a while but hadn’t realised this was available. Wish I’d found it sooner as DF is deep. Played a little on pc before but find this far easier and sever subscription set up was a breeze. All in all spot on!

Possibly the best way to play DF and certainly the only way on iOS. The UI enhancements and controls feel natural on iOS and are actually an improvement on the standard game. I’m looking forward to the promised UI customisations and hope we will possibly get full mod & DFHack support I’m the future. Note: you will need either the very reasonable subscription or your own server (or possibly just your desktop pc) to play, this is effectively a remote connection to the game (who would have guessed with the app name).

Ok... I understand that you tried to make this work on a mobile device, but I’m afraid to inform you that it is not easily accessible for people who have little understanding of servers, or for people who were hoping for a nice little mobile game of a game they quite like. If you do not understand servers, or do not have a server to join, then please do not install this game. It is a waste of money. I myself would love to be able to play this game, but unfortunately for me, the creators of this game have not made it simple and easy, and so I cannot play, and am left disappointed. If you’re going to make a game, don’t base it off servers if you don’t make it readily accessible.

Waste of time, doesn’t work.

This is hands down the best DF experience I've had across any device and this has become my preferred method of playing! The server is easy to setup and the interface in dfremote is much more intuitive and accessible than the original! Great job!

As an occasional Dwarf Fortress player on the PC, I'm very impressed. Connecting over a home network, and it's buttery smooth and looks great. After an hour, the interface is already feeling more intuitive than the PC; things like labour management are well thought out, and there's even a rudimentary help system built in. The developer even replied very quickly and helpfully when I had initial problems connecting to mu server. Lack of sound is a shame, but I'm not going to complain given the price. A joy to use. I gather you can also rent an inexpensive online server (from amazon etc) to run the game on, meaning no need for your own PC.

Tested for ipad / iphone. I remember when the developer announced on the forums he was working on this, and wow, this is smashing. I can imagine this being a ton of work to produce but I hope he continues to add to it, its very well made indeed and a joy to play this way. Setting up the backend for it is easy and means you can play anywhere with internet, runs great too. I would love to see some kind of sound sense in the future to really complete it along with any 3d thats possible (thats flaky on desktop so cant hope too much on that one). Anyways cheers for this, keep up the good work!
