Ella: Sight Singing & Reading

I came here after using Binary Guilt Software’s incredible reading and rhythm training apps to learn to sight read on guitar. I was hoping for some thing similarly well organized for teaching you to sight sing. Instead, this is organize more like a freemium game app. It has a bunch of exercises, but they are not organized in a way that leads you through learning to sight-sing. They are incredibly short, and there is no beginner progression.

Amazing app for sight singing, and I can’t believe it’s free!

It’s a great aid to practice but frustrating as a test/game as it requires trial and error to figure out the “rules”. Which are still confusing for me. So I am using it just to get feedback as I practice intervals, using my piano.

The app looks quite nice but there are no instructions. Instead, it immediately judges you, with “waah, -20 points”. Not everything needs to be gamified.

The design is beautiful and the exercise are nicely graded to become gradually more challenging. I really like having the tuner there and the continuous intonation feedback. I’ve never had fun sight singing until using this app!
