Encounter+ VTT for D&D 5E

This is a great VTT app. Everything can be linked together and quickly referenced once you need it, which makes DMing so much easier and faster. It‘s a pleasure to create battlemaps and seeing them in action, especially when they‘re animated and have line of sight set up. Using the external screen, the app only shows the players what they‘re supposed to see while the dm can see everything they have set up and can easily control the player‘s view. The app is still far from perfect and has some issues. But the developers work very close with the community and the upcoming features are just amazing. I seriously can‘t wait to check them out once they are stable. Apart from that, the app‘s pricing options are more than fair and the developers deserve every last cent for creating such an awesome experience. I‘ve tried multiple VTTs including Roll20 and Foundry but no system has such a smooth and nice feel to it like Encounter+. And it even works on mobile! Keep up the good work!

One of the best dnd apps out there, with amazing support for external screens and fair pricing

Im using the app for my home campaign but whats really difficult is that u need to manually import many items, weopons etc ... would be cool if there would have been an addon for that also some map tiles and assets would be helpful for subscribers or sth :)

The vtt is just perfect for our 5e D&D session but I’d really like if there was an option to just buy the line of sight feature and not have to pay for the subscription. Would mind if it’s 30 bucks or so but I really don’t want to have a subscription running for just that one feature

I know subscriptions are state of the art and fancy. I paid the in app purchases but for example dynamic lightning and sight does only come via premium subscription. These features are simply not worth a recurring payment. Ask for 10 bucks or 12. But don’t ask for recurring payments. App is good and usable. I would wish i could tell it to keep presenting when switching apps. I would love to use it all the time but the ipad is mainly for the sound effects i am adding and to look up stuff in dnd beyond where I purchased the legendary pack. As long i can’t stay in presentation mode so the tv is still showing the map while switching back and forth, this app limits the usage purely to fight scenes. Last but not least a pdf import for pages would be useful. Right now copying and pasting stuff from e.g. dnd beyond makes too much work. 1 star off because i can’t switch in between apps without showing the players what i am doing due to screen share via airplay. 1 star off because you do not allow me to add pictures or PDFs in campaigns 1 star off because your subscription model is ridiculous. (Check what u get for that money in other subscriptions.) Would be different if you would stream the map via a Webserver. (Like jackbox tv is combining mobile and console experience) Edit 02/29/2020: Added +1 Star due to the fast reply pointing out the solution with iOS multitasking and the support of pictures. Now only pdf should be supported too. :) Furthermore would be nice if the app would know metric units. The imperial system is only used by some small countries ;-)

I love your app but please add additional languages (f.e. German)♥️

In its current version already very handy. Still some things missing to make it usable during play. But I have high hopes these missing features will be implemented. Then, it could become the Defacto Standard for DMs.

Dear developer, your work is very very amazing. It is so useful for the DM and makes the encounters much better and easier not only for me also for the players when they see exactly what’s going on. But i sadly have a small bug. When i connect the iPad with my pc/tv the encounter map and the initiative tracker are turned by 90 degree on the display and it doesn’t show the whole map like on the iPad. Is there a solution for me to fix it? Or may you can fix it with an update? But nevertheless thank you very much for your work.

The free version is already a great support for any DM. I unlocked spell support for about one buck and got blown away. The app automatically detects spell names in a trait description and hyperlinks the spell description. I’m not a programmer, but it took me only about an hour to comprehend the xml code of the database, which now lets me add content as fast as about 3 minutes per monster. Bonus: the stat blocks look amazing, just like the original ones if not better. I don’t wanna DM without this ever again.
