Been using initially the Entertainment book and then the software app for about 20 years. The concept is good because it allows businesses to get more customers and for customers to enjoy more for less.
The implementation of the app has been very difficult and caused many frustrations. For some reason, it seems to think that I’m in Sydney while I’m actually in Melbourne. Also, the usability of the app is quite difficult despite the many updates. Before it used to be a bit unattractive but functional but now it looks more attractive, but very dysfunctional.
What has led me to post this negative review, however, is the internal processes of the company. About a month ago, I went to business that refused to honor the voucher. The owner told me that they no longer doing this promotion.
I then contacted the entertainment book so that other people won’t experience this issue. I received a template response that they should be investigated. The easiest way to solve this would be to suspend the merchant from the app until the matter is investigated.
However, a week later, the merchant was still available, and other people would have been experiencing the same issues. Then I followed up a month later and the same merchant was still there.
I then went to another venue who refused to honor the discount and when I launched the complaint, I received the same template response as I had previously.
However, because it has happened to me the second time and no action was taken even after I complained a month earlier, I can only assume that the company doesn’t care enough if customers are inconvenienced by this.
When I took even more of my time and called the phone number to figure out why this is happening, they told me that for the last month they haven’t been able to contact the original merchant so as a result, they left the merchant in the system. And the only way they will remove the merchant from the system is when that merchant says that they want to be removed. In the meantime, if customers suffer, then it’s just tough luck.
When I had a similar issue 10 years ago, the CEO reached out to me directly and they were able to solve the issue… by removing the merchant and crediting the discount to my kids school … so obviously the approach to customer service has changed over the years.
Given my experience, I would now recommend the EatClub app where all of the merchants are recent and they also offer a reimbursement of the discount if anything goes wr
Not able to use app when away from WiFi
Unfortunately this app only works when I’m connected to WiFi, it no longer works using just my phone’s data. Entertainment developer has been in touch and offered to help sort it out for me. Fingers crossed.
Disappointing
I haven’t bought the Entertainment book in a while but due the cost of living being so high I thought I’d buy it to save money when we go out. I’m so disappointed in the new system.
This entice dining gift card nonsense is ridiculous. There are so many rules that come with it which makes it complicated.
What a waste. I won’t be renewing because from what I’ve seen so far it’s not worth it as several of the restaurants I wanted to use it at have this dining gift card.
They should seriously consider going back to the old system.
Gift cards
The gift cards are hot on Miss when they will
Work - so frustrating as you want to buy them
And takes days to work
Bah
v11.2.9 and the app is still terrible. When I’m searching in Perth I don’t want to see Sydney results. How about a filter just for food, rather than selecting all the different dining categories so I don’t miss something? So hard to click the close button on a result.
More convenient than lugging the book around, but a dog of an app.
Regret getting membership
Whenever I try to do any booking via this app, it says unexpected error occurred please go back and refresh page. Till date I gave never been able to make one successful booking. Very disappointed.
PayPal not working
I have just updated the app only to find out that the app does not open the PayPal page for payment. This is not good as I often buy eGift cards when I am out shopping and this is an inconvenience not working. I’m at home and the PayPal has worked on my laptop through the website.
App is terrible
Bring back the book. The app is awful always showing offers miles away.
Entertainment Guide
I got mine in support of The Southport School but a lot of great causes sell the app. I use it almost everyday to explore new places with a special discount. Always surprised by the quality venues on board. Everyone wins!
Difficult
If the keyboard is on the screen there is no way to hide it and clicking on a restaurant on the map the keyboard hides the details!
