Only FREE voice pack for Mac
I have Miller Fisher Syndrome which has left me temporarily blind. I wanted to add more voices to the standard MacOS default ones. This app is completely FREE and open source, the dev did a great job. There are around 100 voices to choose from! The only downside is that if you are used to high quality modern TTS voices like the recently updated Siri voices, these voices will sound very primitive. But if you’re trying to get that Stephen Hawking style vibe? Then this app is perfect. You should also download Speak Line from the App Store, as it will provide a cleaner interface to export text and speech into audio files. But you need this app first to hook into the MacOS VoiceOver API or whatever it’s doing behind the scenes to add voices to the main list, without downloading them from Apple in the settings app. There are limits to storage space, as this app is only 13MB on Mac, which is not enough for the fidelity of advanced modern voice models which can require 500MB of storage space. For what it is, this app is fantastic for visually impaired or blind users to add more narration voices to their Mac. I’m sure the rest of you are also tired of Samantha’s voice! Bonus is this app works on nearly everything Apple: Mac, iPhone, and iPad.
