Essayist: Academic Writing App

I love essayist. It makes formatting for essays quick and easy! However, one issue that I’ve recently come across is that the bold and italics will stop working while I am writing my essay. It will say it is on but no formatting changes are seen. I will have to entirely close out of the application and open my work again to get it to work for a little bit and then it will stop working again. It’s a little frustrating but manageable.

Essayist is an absolute time-saver while writing academic papers. You don’t have to deal with the annoyances of word, plus it’s significantly cheaper if all you use in M365 is word. I love the bibliography features, plus the ability to save PDFs of my sources is pretty darn cool. Where I have an issue is the fact there is no grammar tools if you aren’t running an M-powered iPad. I feel relying on Apple for their AI writing tools isn’t a great idea, since, being an app aimed at students and academics, locks key features behind expensive hardware upgrades. Don’t get me wrong, this app is still awesome. It’s just disappointing that grammar features are missing.

Been using this for about two months and I have to say it is extremely helpful. No problems as of yet. User-friendly interface.

I have been using this software for my Batchelors degree and now working on my Masters and have seen repeated corrections on APA citations by my teachers. Kindly update the APA citation algorithm to the latest requirements to prevent loss of points due to citations. This is my reason for 4 stars, otherwise I would give it 5 stars. Thanks for the great job in creating and maintaining this helpful software. Blessings!

This app has been a big efficiency booster for essay writing and saving references in the correct format. It’s been a big help in my graduate program and I’ll no doubt be using it almost daily.

Installed, and the bibliography manager crashes every time you attempt to use it. Unistalled and cancelled. THANK GOD for free trials. DO NOT WASTE YOU TIME.

Have the hot keys work the same. I will really like my "end" button to work like it does in word.

$40 subscription and you're not even able to change your font size or see an outline of your sections? This thing markets itself as an app for academic writing? Is this a joke?
