FabFilter Saturn 2 is a high-quality distortion/saturation plug-in with a huge range of distortion models ranging from subtle to screaming vintage amp modelling, multiple frequency bands, hugely flexible modulation system, and a very modern, well-designed user interface.

The Saturn 2 app filters the microphone input and plays it back in real-time. To use Saturn 2 as a plug-in, you need an AUv3-compatible host app like Auria, AUM or Cubasis. Saturn 2 will appear in the list of Audio Unit extensions for effect plug-ins in the host app.

"I've found a plugin I can’t live without. There’s not one single type of instrument that can't benefit in some way by having some Saturn on it. [...] Whether you’re looking for a subtle push in the mix or all out audio destruction, Saturn has you covered. Verdict: 9/10!"
— Everything Recording

"The quality of the algorithms is palpable: the amps, tubes and tape types feel suitably 'real' but more sonically interesting than most, and the movement and 'funk' that can be imposed on them is nothing short of dazzling."

Feels like a final piece of the tone puzzle

Live musician here, bassist, been playing thru Loopy Pro on older iPad and SSL+ audio interface for a year and a half with zero hiccups. Searching for ideal plugins to mimic pedals is a big part of the challenge and while delays, compressors, audio shredders are aplenty, a real thick nasty envelope filterish distortion has been almost impossible to find until putting this into the chain. Coupled with a phaser plugin from AudioDamage with zero adjustments and it was just nasty. Really really nasty like how can an iPad be pumping that noise out. Sound engineer at both performances with it were blown away. What more could a bassist want? In terms of being an expensive IOS purchase I’ve easily spent a couple thousand on real pedals over the years that this $20ish plugin trounces so yeah… Thanks Fabfilter people, that much closer to the complete tone!!

4 mb for $30. Haha

These plug-in are overpriced, compared to lower priced and free apps, difference in sound quality is barely noticeable if at all. You are paying for the name. $19-$30 for a pretty gui Look at 4pockets Visual Multi-band compressor $8 , bigger app, more functionality, lower price, HD quality.

One effect to buy?

I love how you can oversample to make the saturation more realistic. Especially when you can alter the panning of the distortion to be Mid/Side. When I do that while simulating a guitar amp, it makes the Amp sound more 3D compared to the other guitar amp apps. I love how realistic it is when you turn the dynamic knob up to simulate the noise of an amp. It really does sound like the noise of an amp if you alter the right bandwidths, but please add the option of lowering the noise, or even completely taking the noise out while still keeping the detail and sustain of the dynamics. That would be better than using a noise gate and losing some quality in the sound. Please add this feature, because after discovering that I can mimic the sound of a Fender Dual Showman Amp or a Fender Bassman ‘59 Amp, I don’t use Amplitube anymore. I even mimicked a Marshall amp with the plexiglass amp setting it has in the presets. I’ve been playing the guitar almost everyday these past couple weeks after discovering how good the guitar amp feature can be. You just have to do some eq and add some good IR reverb then you got a solid amp and cabinet simulation with this plugin. It’s so realistic, but please add the option of lowering and completely taking out the noise. That would make this sound like it’s hooked up to a futuristic noise gate pedal that keeps all the amp details in tact.

Love it!

Dear FabFilter, I wish I could afford your entire suite of apps (cough *covid bundle sale*)... but as a distortion aficionado, this plugin is the iOS gold standard of dirt, grit, grime, boost, wreckage, and all out audio assault. Makes synths more sinister, 303’s squawky-er, 808s heavier, and drums loops nastier (in the best way). I would say this compares to Elektron Analog Heat, but even more flexible in many respects. Very, very, nice work. ~mike.noface

Wow!!!!!!!!!
